John Frieda Precision Foam Colour Reviews

Not bad!
In the past I usually have had problem with boxed-hair color because it fried my hair or washed out quickly (even after claiming to be PERMANENT color). My normal hair almost jet black with a hint of dark, dark brown (like in my picture). I used this because I wanted something different. I didn't want to do anything to dramatic, but I wanted a little lightening and warmth in my hair so I opted to try the Dark Chocolate Brown. The instructions are easy to read and easy to follow. I do like the concept of foam color because it did seem much easier to apply than the standard squeeze bottle that comes in hair color boxes. My biggest strife was that it took ages to rinse out, even longer than other coloring products. Because my hair is so dark, there wasn't much of a difference in color (very very little lightening from black to the darkest brown), and without the use of a porosity neutralizer (pre color treatment that uses proteins to fill spaces in your hair to give you a more even color), my roots were lighter to the chocolate brown I wanted, but my ends were almost black. In bright light, I could see the golden chocolate shine radiate off my hair, but in normal or low light it is undetectable. Because my hair was naturally dark and I did not pre-lighten it, this had more of a glazing effect than a color effect. For people with lighter hair, you will see better results. As far as coverage goes, this definitely covers better than regular drug store color and you won't be left with patches (as claimed on the box) unless you are seriously wreckless. My hair is a little longer than shoulder length now, but there was adequate product to over saturate my hair like in the instructions. For people with much longer hair (like stomach-length or longer), I would highly suggest buying two boxes if you insist on using this product. — 1 year, 4 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 6 of 7 people said helpful

Didn't work for me...
I was really excited to try this hair color on my teenage daughter's hair because the foam was supposed to be easier to apply. After coloring her hair with the standard type of color for over a year myself, I know to make sure to get 2 boxes in case we run out. With this, I purchased 1 box. I found the whole foam thing a little complicated and it was not easy for me to apply. I definitely did not get an even distribution with the foam. I usually agree with masses on products, but not this one. Maybe it takes practice but that is difficult to do with hair dye. — 1 year, 2 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 3 people said helpful

Holy grail at home hair dye!
I am shocked to see that this has average stars/reviews! I (almost) always love John Frieda products so when I saw the “Precision Foam Colour” at home hair dye I squealed with delight. I immediately ran out and bought this product. I do have to say that it’s a little more expensive than other at home hair dye but it worth its weight in price. I found that no matter how long my hair is it always has enough (and more than enough) dye for my entire head of hair. It has a pleasant scent, I have used way too much box dye and this is one of the only box dyes that I do not mind the scent. The steps to using this product is easy, it is also easy to apply without getting it on everything. You simply add one liquid to another and tilt five times and that’s it you are ready to foam dye your hair! The packaging on this product is amazing. It feels very expensive not like the applicator is going to burst. The kit includes the dye, black gloves, and a deep conditioner to add shine. The gloves are great! They are thicker than most that come in box dyes and lend an expensive feel to this at home colour (they are also black which is amazing!) The foam really coats the hair completely and does not drip, so I usually apply this to my whole hair and go about doing housework without being scared that it is going to go everywhere. The foam is deep penetrating really sealing the color in just twenty minutes. I love that it’s a foam so it is easy to apply and easy to see where it is going on the hair. I have used different colours from this line including the darkest black, different shades of brown, and, auburn/reds. I have found that for every color my hair is the same color throughout with out it being streaky or a different shade at the root or the ends. I have also found that my hair is never dry after using this dye. It must be the conditioner that comes with it, it really adds a gloss and moisture to the finished hair. It also dyes with a nice base color and multi dimension. I highly urge everyone to try this hair dye kit! If it is your first time this is a great starter to see if at home hair dying is for you! — 5 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 7 of 7 people said helpful

Easy to apply and not smelly
I started going gray at a young age, so I've been coloring my hair for a long time. This foaming hair color is so easy to apply, doesn't drip and colors evenly. My husband is thrilled that it doesn't stink up the entire house when I color my hair. It gives me natural looking color and a ton of shine. My hair actually looks like it's in better condition AFTER I color than before. It doesn't give that one tone result that some hair colors do, instead it has real dimension and shine to the color. The deep conditioner that is included is amazing and leaves my hair soft and manageable and there is enough for several uses. I was also very impressed with the gloves provided. It may seem like a minor thing, but the black gloves fit better than the ones included in most boxes of color and are quite a bit thicker. The do a great job of protecting hands. I also found that this color lasts longer than many brands and does a great job of covering grays, just be sure to leave the color on for the added amount of time in the instructions. — 3 months, 2 weeks agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 2 of 2 people said helpful

LOVE LOVE LOVE!
Love this haircolor! I can't even begin to tell you how great it is! I used 9N to touch up my haircolor previously done by Revlon Colorsilk and I'm seriously in Love with this haircolor! I was a little hesitant at first, but once I got started and applying it, it was soooo easy! Not only that, but I 1 box provided my whole head with coverage and I have long hair. My hair felt, looked and smelled wonderful after using it. When I finished rinsing out the color, I went directly to my hair dresser for a trim (my head was still wet when I got there) once she blew my hair out - I was in complete amazement of how awesome the color looked. The blending of the roots to the current color was seamless. I usually get a burning sensation when I use at home haircolor, but not with this - not even a little bit! I'm hooked and I'm stocking up! — 1 year, 8 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 15 of 16 people said helpful

damaging
I tried this foam hair color to see if it was truly easier to apply, and in that regard I agree. The foam is much easier to apply, and to make sure that you get to all of your roots, especially in the back, which can be tricky with other hair colors. The application process was good, it had a pleasant smell and didn't take overly long. My only complaint was that I was going for light golden brown, and ended up with something that looked more like damaged reddish tones. Granted, my hair was not in the best shape to begin with, so if you already have some damage I would avoid this product. — 1 year, 8 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 2 of 3 people said helpful

great color
I had been wanting to try this despite the $12 price tag. I decided last month to try it. Good decision. There is more than enough of the color foam to color every inch of my long hair. The foam saturates all of my hair. The after color conditioner make my hair look and feel great. The color itself is the color shown on the box and lasts a long time. This is worth every penny. — 10 months, 1 week agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

Foaming haircolor
This is the first foaming hair color I have tried! It is so much easier to use, and is quick to apply. Covered my grays nicely. The only problem I had was that the color came out much darker than I was expecting, I used light golden brown and my hair turned out very dark brown. I am not loving the actual color, but like the way my hair feels (very soft) and that the color is very even. — 1 year, 8 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 5 of 5 people said helpful

Great Color; Long Lasting
I found this process to be simple, easy to use and foolproof. The color was beautiful and it colored my few grays perfectly. 3 weeks later it's still as vibrant as it was and my grays haven't re-emerged which is a huge thing for me! — 2 years agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 2 of 2 people said helpful
