As a new mom, I once spilled a measly 1 oz. bottle of breast milk -- and cried. Not just cried, sobbed. That stuff was liquid gold and a somewhat painful hassle to get. Plus, every drop equaled another future flu my son would dodge/super power he would develop. And now it was ruined. read more

If you're like me, you occasionally fall victim to the seductive, siren-like ways of an all-you-can-eat buffet. On a recent trip to Vegas, I went full force on the buffet line, and ended up in a food coma that lasted for what felt like two weeks. FITiST co-founders Caroline Limpert and Neda Talebian Funk suggest that you go for a hot and sweaty indoor cycling class when you're in the mood to burn a bunch of calories, quick. "Indoor cycling is all about the rhythm," they explain. "If you're sprinting in the saddle, you want a playlist filled with your favorite fast songs." Ah, super foods. You know the deal: Trendy foods with hard to pronounce names (see, "acai") from far off places, that always seem to be especially far from your local grocery store. For busy women everywhere -- no matter how much you love the calm feeling after an hour and a half of breathing, stretching, and focusing -- it's tough to squeeze in a yoga class as frequently as you'd like. See the glass half full, find the silver lining, look on the bright side...there are endless platitudes and clichés that are so regularly recited, they don't seem to carry much meaning. This seems especially true on the days when metaphorical rain pours down on your metaphorical parade, or when a storm cloud seems to be hovering over your head for days on end. But taking a closer look at optimism reveals these everyday turn of phrases actually have the right idea in mind. When put into routine practice, positive thinking can change your whole life for the better...and in more ways than one. read more

As far as I'm concerned, there are only two kinds of workouts: incredibly sweaty workouts that require an immediate shower, and minimal-sweat workouts where you can go back to the office without so much as a makeup touchup. See workouts
