Best hair dye I've ever used!

Really truly love this product! I've used tons of hair dyes in the past but nothing has come close to the overall performance as this. It was easy to apply, the color was true, even, and natural-looking (I went about one shade darker, the brown-black color), and it left my hair in better condition. It's usually frizzy and dry, but after the dye it was sleek and smooth! A few days after dyeing, I went for a haircut with my stylist who's known me forever, and she was marveling at how healthy my hair had become. When I told her it was a box dye, she was shocked! The only thing preventing me from giving this a 10 is because it was not permanent. I only wash my hair every other day and it still only lasted a month before fading - 2 months later and my hair is back to its original color and state of frizz. It costs around $11-12 (significantly more than most box dyes) even at Walmart, but it's totally worth it! — 1 year, 7 months ago

    Super bummed.

Wow, after seeing everyone else's reviews, mine is going to just trash this product, but here goes. I was really excited to use this, I have a toddler and a newborn so having a block of time to dye my hair happens like never. The part that takes the longest for me is the application, so I like that this was way faster than other dyes. I usually use organic, sulfate free shampoo and conditioner, so far so good. But I ran out and had to use my sulfate stuff, which oddly enough is by John Frieda, and after 2 shampoos I couldn't even tell I had ever dyed my hair. Not using this stuff again. — 1 year, 7 months ago

    Review subject

I'm rather in love with this product. I've been using hair color for a few years now, and I've always had a bit of a problem with some of them due to a strong smell. I've got sensitive skin, and products don't usually bother me, but they do leave my skin warm. This one was fantastic on all fronts. It really was easy to use. I didn't have any mess at all. It foamed up just like it should. The color was easy to spread throughout my long curly hair, and even managed to color it evenly. The color itself was a perfect match for me. I used the dark chocolate brown, and it was just as described. It was a dark chocolate color with just a hint of red sheen to it. Quite lovely. Easy to rinse out, and I love the conditioner. My hair is in great shape afterwards with no troubles. — 1 year, 8 months ago

    Color not true!

The color represented on the box is not the color I received. I normally use Dark and Lovely Golden Bronze #379, which is like a lt golden brown and I get a color a little darker than Beyonce or Tyra Banks (when she used to wear weaves). When I dyed my hair with John Frieda is turned dark, dark brown. Chocolate! It does cover gray very well! and easy to use, BUT, the color is way toooooo dark. Will find another color or brand. — 1 year, 8 months ago

    it's great

I alternate applications of this with Loreal Couleur Experte, which I love because it has highlights in the box which show through even when I use this color the next time. I use this every other time because it's easy, less expensive, and gives me great color and coverage in a fraction of the time. Very easy to apply, gives wonderfully even color, and so far it's lasted just fine. Much better than the other, cheaper mousse color on the market. Not drippy at all, and smelled good too (for blonde hair color, that's a huge change) — 1 year, 9 months ago

    Just Tried This!

I received this dye for free and just tried it out the other day. I love the foam application! And the conditioner that's included in the bottle is amazing! The application was easy and my hair felt great right when I rinsed out the color. I was a little disappointed in the color, but I think it has more to do with the color I chose than the product itself. My hair is a little difficult to take to color and i'm currently transitioning from a medium brown to a honey golden blonde. But overall i loved this product and definitely plan on using it again. — 1 year, 9 months ago

    Better-looking hair

It claims that your hair would look more moisturized and the color will look deeper after using this product. This is what I noticed after receiving this in the mail and using it: My hair does not look dried anymore from frequent straightening and blow-drying. Prior to using this I haven't gotten a trim yet which I was supposed to do since the split ends were getting visible. After using this, blowdrying and straightening, the split ends were not visible at all. I am going to buy this again. The only downside I can think of is the strong smell. The smell itself does not bother me, but just like too much of a nice-smelling perfume, the smell is just too strong for me. Make sure to follow the instructions very carefully. It tells you to tilt the bottle 3-5 times instead of shaking it, and this is important so as not to get the color mixture runny. — 1 year, 10 months ago

    John Frieda Precision Foam Colour

This is the best at home hair color kit I've ever used! The foam was easy to apply and did not smell like other dyes I've used. I have long, thick hair and it covered my hair completely with some left over. I have naturally light brown hair and have been getting my hair professionally highlighted and dyed honey blonde for years. I needed a cheap fix and used color 9N. The color is beautiful and my highlights pulled through. It looks like a had it done in the salon. I couldn't be happier! — 1 year, 8 months ago

    Didn't like it....at first.

What I didn't like about it: The foam found its way into my ears during application, and was difficult to remove. The color wasn't what I expected - the medium golden brown came out as a reddish brown. It made my scalp itch during the application. What I loved: The color was bright and shiny. My hair felt so soft. And the color lasted longer than other brands. After about two weeks of washing my hair, the color eventually turned into a golden brown. I did receive a few compliments. I want to use this product again, but slightly afraid because I know the intial color will come out a lot darker than I would like. — 1 year, 10 months ago

John Frieda Precision Foam Color - Light Red Brown

Wow....I was scared to try this color because it is a little darker than I am used to having my hair, but the result is fabulous. It has multi-dimensional layers and was super easy to apply. I left it on only 20 minutes, just because I wasn't sure of how my hair would take it. My hair is naturally coarse, dry and between strawberry blonde and this color naturally. At age 50, I am close to 50% gray. But, I am really enjoying the richness of this red brown, the ease of use and the comments I am getting from friends and family. Love it! — 1 year, 8 months ago
