Definitely NOT Proactiv!
My 15 year old daughter has been dealing with teenage acne for a couple of years now. I have had to use Proactiv to control my adult acne and it works well, as long as I am consistent! I picked up the University Medical Acne Free Clear Skin Treatment for her to try because it was supposed to work like Proactiv, but cheaper. Well, you get what you pay for! This system cannot replace or work as well as Proactiv. This system left my daughter's skin more irritated with more breakouts than ever before. This system is sub par! If you need an acne program that works, you will have to stick with Proactiv. Her skin started clearing back up the minute I had her change! — 1 year, 2 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

Bad
I tried this for my cystic acne and it just made it worse! The repair lotion had little grainy particles like in an exfoliating face wash. The cleanser was kind of harsh and dried my skin out. Overall very disappointing. — 2 years agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 1 people said helpful

Yuck!
The cleanser made my skin feel greasy, actually the whole system made my skin feel greasy. I returned it. — 3 years, 10 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 2 people said helpful

Not very good...and NOT a replacement for ProActiv!
I tried this three years ago when I couldn't afford to buy ProActiv anymore. I didn't have really bad acne (mostly blackheads and one or two painful zits per month), but I needed an anti-acne product. By comparison, I didn't like this kit at all. The cleanser is more watery and gritty than the ProActiv cleanser. The toner feels like it does nothing, while the ProActiv toner always felt soothing. The repair lotion - which we all know is the most imprtant part of the kit - isn't smooth and doesn't absorb that well. My face seemed to get more shiny than usual throughout the day when using it. And there are teeny, tiny little gritty bits in the lotion, like you'd find in an exfoliating cleanser. What are these doing in a leave-on product? They're not really visible on skin, but still...Anyway, after a month or so of using this, my mild acne seemed unaffected. I don't believe this product did anything to help, and he texture of it's components was too bothersome for me to buy it again. If you've been using ProActiv, and you're looking for something cheaper, AcneFree is not the answer. (As for me, I've had luck with Neutrogena's Acne Stress Control products.) — 4 years, 4 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

Did nothing for me
I use proactiv and it works like a charm, this did nothing. They claim it is just like proactiv but the difference is proactiv very finely mills their benzoyl peroxide to get deeper in the skin and they don't. This doesn't work better than any other drug store cleanser on the market. — 2 years, 7 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

Universal Medical Acne Free Clear Skin
I would not survive without this! I am over 50 and still am challenged with keeping acne at bay. I have tried every acne treatment over the course of my life and this is the only one that PREVENTS my skin from breaking out, so a few bleached pillow cases aren't of concern. The salicylic products don't work for me at all so its obvious there is no one-size-fits-all for acne treatments. I use this religiously and it does not dry my skin although I know this was a problem for my daughter. — 1 month agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

Only thing that's worked for my adult acne
I have used ProActive on and off for a few years in my early 20s, fed up with their mandatory auto-delivery and its gradual ineffectiveness. I picked this up at Walmart after numerous salicylic acid products (Clinque, Neutrogena, Clean & Clear) just did NOT work for me. I don't know why some people don't like the small beads in the cleanser as I find it is a built-in exfoliation agent. The toner ALWAYS picks up dark gunk off my face, and the lotion dries pretty quickly. I use it under my antioxidant serum and moisturizer with sunscreen. The only complaint I would have is that it sometimes "pills" or rolls off if I apply too much. I will continue using this product indefinitely. I also can't complain about the price! My skin hasn't been this smooth and clear in YEARS. I've been using it for almost two months now. It's phenomenal! For $20, give it a try! — 8 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

I Love This Stuff
I have used proactive it burned my skin and made it worse! I have tried neutrogena and it just dried it out and made me look older. I have tried mixing different stuff and it didn't work. And then I found this and it's awesome! It's not drying, the toner is soothing, and the lotion it just a little moisturizing. This keeps my oil under control, but it makes my skin look radiant. It keeps my adult acne under control and I don't even get pimples at that time of the month anymore! MY only con is I wish the sold the 3 steps separately because sometimes I run out of the product at different times, but it doesn't happen very often so no big deal. — 1 year, 2 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

Proactive to Acne Free
When I first got to college and realized it was time to start cutting back, one of the things that had to go was the 50 or so dollar a month Proactive system. I was scared , I had terrible under the skin acne causing bumps all over my forehead and worse pinker acne on the rest of my T-zone but i started my research. I looked up a few different products but found this one to be the most comparable. I looked into the ingredients of proactive and that of acne free and they are almost identical. Both products use Benzoyl peroxide as their main acne fighting ingredient and Acne free's "repair lotion" even has a higher percentage then proactive's "repair lotion". Anyhow, so i went to my local walgreens (this was also an added benefit for me that acne free was so easy to get) and purchased acne free and have stuck with it ever since. If you do switch from proactive to acne free be warned your skin will dry out after about a week, but keep using the product regualry and within a month your skin should adjust to the slightly stronger repair lotion. — 1 year, 4 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful
