Gentle cleansing for a real (sensitive) man

April 18, 2008, 2:16 am Ladies, anyone else got combination oily/dry skin prone to breakouts? Can I get an 'amen'? I've tried Clinique/Clarins products which have worked for me, but who can afford those on a regular basis. For less than 8 bucks I can get this gentle stuff which noticeably removes oily gunk without drying my skin out. I switched to the 'normal to oily' type because the other one left me with a slightly oily coating on my skin. The only improvement I could possibly hope for would be smaller sample size packaging for traveling. But I guess I could use regular squeeze bottles if I wasn't lazy. Moms, get your teen boys using this as soon as they get pimply. And make them use it twice a day, or they'll never get a girlfriend. April 18, 2008, 2:16 am

It's a great cleanser for children, I used this with all three babies and I've heard they use it in hospitals too. It's nice to have if you will wash your face several times in the day for some reason but I wouldn't recommend it for removing make up. It would be nice if they offered a better container in glass to refill. January 6, 2008, 8:45 pm

I will use the product all over my body at times and feel confident it wont cause breakouts. I tried it for the first time from a recommendation I read on WebMD and have never looked back at all those other store products. Its great! The only downside is the price. . .Even at walmart, it is a bit pricey. But, it also lasts a long time. December 17, 2007, 12:37 pm

Other products always dried out my skin--ouch. I only have to wear a little more moisturizer in the winter. The only downfall is that this cleanser is definitely not a heavy makeup remover. You have to use something else to get eyemake up off because this won't get it off. It smells really good too. Kind of like Johnson and Johnson's baby shampoo. November 29, 2007, 7:01 pm

November 29, 2007, 1:41 pm I have always suffered from mild blemishes, but when I became pregnant my skin really broke out. In addition to breaking out, I discovered that my normal skincare routine was causing me to have an allergic reaction. I had no idea what to do so I tried Cetaphil's Daily Facial Cleanser over their Gentle Cleanser hoping that it would help with my increased oil production and remove my makeup (I found that the Gentle Cleanser never really removed all my mineral-based foundation). I feel like I have discovered a goldmine - an inexpensive cleanser that takes off my makeup, doesn't make me breakout or give me allergies! Worth a try. November 29, 2007, 1:41 pm

    A simple solution

November 12, 2007, 2:06 pm I have tried just about every face cleanser available, and I continually go back to Cetaphil. It is versatile, simple and feels so nice to the skin. After spending years on high-priced products, it is great knowing that Cetaphil is tried and true, and affordable! It leaves my skin soft and moisturized, but never oily, even when I don't use water. It is gentle enough to use in both a.m. and p.m., and never leaves my face stripped. It has really been a savior in calming my skin after a day at the beach, and also getting my skin back to "normal" after having a baby and dealing with hormonal acne. No other product I have ever tried has really satisfied me as much as Cetaphil. It also lasts a really long time. My favorite product!! November 12, 2007, 2:06 pm

Don't believe the myth: "stripping" your face isn't a good thing!

I started seeing in so many magazines a certain peice of advice from professionals that I trust (facialists, aestheticians, dermatologists, makeup artists) that it's really not a good idea (in fact, it's a bad idea) to use harsh cleansers that strip every last drop of oil from your face, leaving it squeaky clean, taut, and ... November 12, 2007, 1:58 pm I started seeing in so many magazines a certain peice of advice from professionals that I trust (facialists, aestheticians, dermatologists, makeup artists) that it's really not a good idea (in fact, it's a bad idea) to use harsh cleansers that strip every last drop of oil from your face, leaving it squeaky clean, taut, and uncomfortable. It seems counterintuitive-- but this actually accelerates oil production-- for those of use with oily skin, a very bad thing. The answer-- a mild, non-soap cleanser like Cetaphil. It cleanses every last trace of dirt from my face, yet doesn't leave it feeling tight and uncomfortable. Even those with oily skin- in fact, especially those with oily skin, should give this one a try. Those with sensitive skin will cheer too- it contains no artificial dyes, perfumes, etc. November 12, 2007, 1:58 pm

For someone who suffers from Adult hormonal Acne, this is just about the best cleanser you can use, very gentle, even to eyes. I use this and a prescription of Retisol-A and have had better skin improvement from straying to other products. I also use Cetaphil Face moisturizer in the evening after washing my face. (and Neutrogena toner) thats it. May 30, 2008, 1:35 pm

April 22, 2008, 6:55 am After years of looking for the perfect cleanser for my acne prone pigmented skin my dermatologist recommended that I stop with all the harsh cleansers that strip too much of the oils and use this gentle, simple cleanser. I had my doubts but after using it for a few months I have had less breakouts and my skin has less redness. I think sometimes we use too many chemicals and sensitive skin doesn't like it. Give Cetaphil a chance. My dermatologist says it's what she uses too! April 22, 2008, 6:55 am

February 26, 2008, 4:10 pm I have loved this cleanser since I first tried it. My derm recommended it for my acne-prone skin. It is gentle but effectively removes makeup (except for heavy eye makeup). It is not as moisturizing as the Cetaphil Gentle cleanser, but not drying at all. I love high-end products, and I occasionally feel the need to try out more expensive cleansers, but none have come close to this for being effective and still gentle on skin. I highly recommend this product. February 26, 2008, 4:10 pm
