Neutrogena Facial Cleansing Bar for Acne-Prone Skin Reviews

PERFECT Soap for Acne!
Neutrogena's "Facial Cleansing Bar for Acne-Prone Skin" is so misunderstood and under-appreciated! Though I don't use it often now, it made a huge difference in the way I looked when I was troubled by acne or cyclical breakouts. It is formulated to deep-clean skin. It is hypo-allergenic, lathers wonderfully, and rinses thoroughly. One of the key ingredients in here is Glycerin--yes, Glycerin! You see, those suffering with acne are already most likely using products containing Benzoyl Peroxide or Salicylic Acid which dry skin. This gives skin a break, ridding it of these so that it won't be overly dry and peel. This more gentle approach eventually results in clear skin. Neutrogena KNOWS what they are doing, and I am still thankful for this! — 1 month, 3 weeks agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

Not Bad
I've tried other Neutrogena acne washes with decent results, so I decided to give this one a try. It does an Ok job, I have persistent adult acne so it didn't clear it up and it didn't make it any worse. It did dry my skin out a bit at first, so maybe only once a day would be better. Overall OK. — 2 years, 6 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 1 people said helpful

not great
All the product did was temporarily dry out my skin. It did abosolutely nothing for my acne. I could have just as easily used a regular bar of soap on my face. — 4 years, 6 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

Dry Dry
So i started using this about a week ago. After rinsing my face i feel my face really tight and i have really oily skin, and this left my skin less oily. This cleared my acne really fast, but it left the corners of my mouth really dry. Im still undecided on weather im gonna keep on using this product. — 1 year, 6 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 1 people said helpful

Simple Soother
Glycerin bars have been highly recommended to me as a young teenager years ago by dermatologists and yet I was skeptical they did me good as rarely have I found any bath bars have. This one was different but before I say the good, I've start with the bad by saying this didn't clear my acne. But I'll tell you that it lessened the redness and moisturized my skin better than an ordinary soap which can also either have alkaline or leave filmy residue on skin, either one is bad regardless. Also, it is great for sensitive skin that find even cream cleansers too much for their skin and not effectively getting rid of makeup, this will do the job. The one negative part about using bar soaps is that it can be contaminated with whatever bacteria was on your face or hands if you don't wash the bar itself after use. Other than that, you may like this as an alternative to whatever else is in the market bottled or boxed. — 4 years, 11 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 5 of 5 people said helpful

Great cleanser
The thing about this soap: It's not made to specifically clear up acne. It doesn't contain any medication, so only washing with this bar won't magically make acne disappear. That being said, this soap is a great mild cleanser; it's non-comedogenic (won't clog your pores), it contains very little fragrance, and it washes off really well. It left my face feeling very clean and smooth, with a barely noticeable scent. I think it's a great product to add to a daily facial regimen for anyone with acne. It won't clear up your face by itself, but it will clean without causing a lot of irritation. — 11 months, 1 week agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

Good For Travel
It's inexpensive and it won't explode in your luggage. I'm not a huge fan of bar soaps as I see them as bacteria breeding grounds. It's a bit drying, but it keeps my skin from freaking out when I travel. When I'm ready to go home, I can just toss it. I wouldn't use this as my regular cleanser at home for the above reasons but it's fine for a week or so. — 1 year, 3 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

Works well
I really like this product because it lather really well. It lasts you along time and is very inexpensive! I did see a little bit of a difference in my skin but if you don't use a moisturizer it will dry your skin out — 1 year, 7 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

Best OTC Bar I've tried!
My dermatologist recommended me using this bar for day time use only (AM) so i could just get rid of all the harsh medications I use at night and give my skin some time to breathe and not be so roughed up and in constant punishment. I was skeptical because it doesn't contain any active ingredients to help fight acne such as BPO or Salicylic Acid. But I believe it actually works really well. I just wash my face in the morning, it lathers very easily and you get used to the scent very quickly. My face feels free of all those medicated residues left on my skin from my night treatments. And afterwards I just apply some Moisturizing Lotion with SPF and it's great! This more gentle approach to my acne has worked well. I would definitely not recommend scrubs if you have cystic acne like I did, the rougher the cleanser, the more it irritates your skin and the more it will break out. Sometimes it's good to give your skin some fresh air and time to cool. Overall, I would recommend using it the same way my dermatologist did. Use all your acne products at night time and in the morning just use a gentle, medicine free regimen. Sometimes twice daily acne treatments can rough up your skin and make it red. Also, every other day I use oatmeal as an exfoliating scrub before washing my face with this bar (so that the bar gets rid of the residues left by the oatmeal on my skin). And even though I still have a little bit of acne left, my skin looks so much more healthy and glows more than it has in years. Buy it! And don't buy it thinking it'll clear your acne! It's not medicated! — 1 year, 7 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 3 of 3 people said helpful

Neutrogena clansing bar Acne- Prone skin
I used this product some years ago and it did not help the acne on my skin. I was hoping it would stop the break-outs or clear my acne within a few days. Unfortunately that wasn't the case. It left my skin itchy ad a wee bit dry. I already have dry skin so I need something that adds moisture. On a positive note, this soap has a nice fragrance to it but just didn't clear my acne like I hoped. — 2 years, 6 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 1 people said helpful
