Another miss with Nyx!
I am a makeup shopping addict. I don't care if it's super expensive or super cheap, if I hear good things about a product, then I want to give it a try. I love the premise of Nyx; an affordable line of quality cosmetics that gives drug store brands a run for their money. This year they have come out with a plethora of NEW items all at the same time and that thrilled me. Normally I have had bad luck with Nyx lipsticks/glosses in the past and I was hesitant because normally Matte lipsticks do NOT go on me very well. I decided to give this a try (at least if I didn't like it, I could always return it back to Ulta). I got the super bright fuchsia pink MLS 02 (because I love bold colors). What I love about this lipstick is that it's VERY pigmented (as with any Nyx products which is what I love about them). However, my lips are VERY pigmented, and this lipstick isn't nearly as pigmented to cover my lips evenly, even with primers. it's not so matte (Which I kind of like). It's more of a semi-matte rather than a full matte (there is a tiny bit of shine). I like semi-matte textures because they tend to go onto lips a little better. What I did NOT like is that this, along with other Nyx lipsticks, do not go on very evenly on my lips. I get a lot of "clumping" with this lipstick and it feathers very easily. Also, it "peels" off any time I press my lips together. I have been extremely disappointed with Nyx lip products overall. I play around with makeup a LOT and I made sure to exfoliate my lips prior to applying makeup; but also I've tried applying this lipstick on top of bare lips, on top of lip primer, on top of eyeshadow primer (a make up artist tip for truer pigmentation!) and on top of lip liner (blended on top of the entire surface of my lips), and I received similar results. I did get the better results when I used it on top of lip liner that had been blended all throughout the surface of my lips (Which also gave it the most matte effect). In the low-down, the norm continues that myself personally cannot pull off matte lipsticks, let alone Nyx lipsticks in general. I know that many women cannot pull off matte lipsticks (especially those with lips prone to dryness). From my experience, matte lipsticks photograph beautifully but in person they do not often appear as nicely. I wish I could be like other women who have had nothing but praise for Nyx lipsticks and who can wear them beautifully. so disappointed
I've been curious to try NYX lipsticks for a while. I've read many good reviews here, plus their website makes it extremely easy to rule out shades that won't work by providing detailed descriptions saying whether the color is blue-, orange-, yellow- or pink-based, (or neutral). Bravo! No more squinting at a tube in a store under fluorescent lights trying to decide if it's a warm or cool shade. I was actually looking for their Extra Creamy Round, but the store I was in didn't have it, so I decided to try this because the Pale Pink was the exact on-trend pastel pink I was looking for. Unfortunately, it looked awful when I put it on. You know that white zinc oxide sunblock? It looked like that, tinted pink. I tried it both with and without a moisturizing concealer on my lips. It's such a shame, because when I held the lipstick up in front of my face the color looked absolutely exquisite against my skin. My favorite matte lipsticks!!
I dont understand how people dont like this lipstick I have tried a few matte lipsticks from different brands expensive and inexpensive and this matte lipstick from NYX is amazing has great pigmentation and its matte but not dry it goes on smooth ofcoarse on semi dry lips to normal lips but I apply a lip balm on my lips everyday which people with dry lips or easy to get dry lips should use them everyday or matte lipsticks will not work too good but I gotta say that nyx matte liptick goes on easily and smooth for beeing matte I own mac matte lipsticks and those goes on a little more drying I prefer Nyx. Also if you like the lipstick I dont understand why you would give it a few stars you are rating how you like it not the experience you had in shipping nor that it broke etc. The point of poducts having great pigmentation means bright and bold and if you dont like that then maybe it is not your color you got to learn how to choose colors and product for your type of skin and skin color other than all the complains about it dont look good or it broke this lipstick is awesome glides good when your lips are not too dry wear a lip balm and if you like bright or bold colors then this is it it stays good. — 1 month, 3 weeks agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful
