NYX Cosmetics Single Eye Shadow Reviews

THE BEST EYESHADOW EVER!!
I'm one of those girls that just can't justify paying $16 for a small little square of eyeshadow at MAC, so with a little research, I came across these little gems. I always saw NYX products tucked away in the corner at ULTA, however I never thought enough to buy any...when I finally did, I was pleasantly suprised. Colors are vibrant, have ultimate staying power - especially if you have hooded eye lids such as mine, you know that staying power is a MUST! With a little experimenting, I also found out that if you take an eyeliner bush, dip it in a little water and your NYX eyeshadow of choice, you've got the perfect stay all day eyeliner! So basically, for $5.00 you have a product that performs as an eyeliner and eyeshadow and won't let you down! — 3 years, 7 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 8 of 9 people said helpful

Good for the price
I have only purchased two NYX Single Eyeshadows - Sahara and Nude. I would not say they rank in the top or bottom of other eyeshadows I have used. They are silky, decently pigmented, and stay relatively long. Did they completely wow me? No. Would I buy some again? Yes, because of the great price. — 2 years agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 2 of 3 people said helpful

Great product
I was lucky enough to stumble upon this gem at nordstrom rack. I had heard about NYX products being this line of drugstore priced cosmetics that had high end quality, which made me very interested. I am always looking for a good deal and these eye shadows were no exception!! I picked up the white pearl, geisha, pink princess, nude, and cafe shades (pearly white, matte white, light mauve pink, and a medium toned brown) and boy was I happy with the results. All of the shadows were great! the lasting power was long, it was able to stay on my eyelids all day with an eye shadow primer. I was also able to blend these colors effortlessly, and there was quite a bit of product in each individual case. I also noticed online there were a bunch of shades so it was good, I felt like they could pass off as dupes for mac shadows? I love how each shadow only costs about $6 so you are able to buy a bunch with out breaking the bank. The formula for these products are not chalky which is amazing and they feel smooth so they are fairly easy to blend. I also found these products to work well as highlights (nude) and they could even double up as blushes. Anyhow, these shadows can prove as great alternative to cheaper make up, and can be used as everyday items to my make up collection. I wish they were sold in more store since I know there are no nordstrom racks nor ultas in many areas. Overall I would tell everyone to at least give this brand a chance, it has amazing products and the prices are so cheap they will not break the bank, they are sure to satisfy almost any make up junkie! — 5 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 2 of 2 people said helpful

terrific... until it creases
I have just one of these in a nude matte shade called "Blame it on Midnight," which I bought on sale just to try since I'd heard a lot of good things about NYX eye shadows. It has terrific pigment and goes on beautifully... but sadly, it does crease after several hours wear. — 5 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 1 people said helpful

Maybe it's just me?
I didn't get a lot of product to get on my eye when I used an eyeliner brush with this... kind of wondering if it was just me. What I did get on after applying like 3 layers was faded at the end of the day a little and some was under my eyes. It's a very good price though and it lasted a lot longer with primer, so it's a decent buy in my opinion. — 2 years, 2 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 2 people said helpful

My favourite shadows of all time
What can I say about them, that hasn't already been said: Colour range: 150+, Pigmentation: equal to those of high end brands, Finishes: matte, satin, shimmery, pearly, glittery, you have them all!, Price: affordable, Size: big, Drawbacks: a bit powdery and the shimmery/glittery shades have a bit of fall-out. I have quite a few of these and honestly I wish I could get all colours. — 1 year, 3 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 1 people said helpful

Excellent
These are really good eye shadows as long as you use primer first. They come in really pretty colors and are really pigmented. They also blend really nicely too. I like MAC colors a little bit more, but these usually get chosen over those because the price. They're so inexpensive! The quality makes them worth way over the price. There are so many different shades and finishes that compliment every skin tone and eye color, it's really hard to choose just one. With these, I can experiment with colors I wouldn't normally wear and not blow on my money on something I'll only potentially wear twice. It's kind of a win-win. I definitely recommend buying these eye shadows. You won't be disappointed. — 12 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 1 people said helpful

Awesome
I was a MAC eyeshadow devotee just because I liked a few other things of their brand (their lipsticks, I fiend for!!) but Smashbox always performed better in the eyeshadow department. Every time I'd use a MAC eyeshadow I'd think, "these cost HOW much? Shouldn't they be easier to work with/deeper color/longer lasting" etc. But it was MAC so I kept using it. Finally a friend sent me an NYX color, and as I used it I thought wow these things must cost a fortune! The color payoff, the ease of application were so amazing, they FELT like I had expected the MAC should. Then I found out how inexpensive NYX is; if I had known how 'cheap' they were before I used them I might have been biased against them before I used them. Now? I can't get enough of them. The only other brand of eyeshadow I will not toss out is my Smashbox, but the NYX has beat everything else to death. I see people occasionally say they get a lot of fallout; I don't know why you would with THIS color. But if it is a glittery color (like Hot Green), use Glitter Glue by Too Faced. Apply with a sponge or a dabbing motion with a nice thick eye brush like this one real Techniques Shading Brush Just pack and dab. I promise the stuff will stay on, and be rich. As for SENSUAL, I apply it wet just because when I put on my eyeshadow in the morning, I need it to last at least 10 hours. I stopped using Urban Decay Primer Potion when I found out that Mac Paint Pot does the job and at a fraction of the price, so that's what I recommend. I dab on a Paint Pot normally in Painterly (I recommend directly from MAC to avoid fakes), but you can use any other color under the Sensual to enhance the color. Or, use a Jumbo NYX Eye Pencil and dab it on your lid; it acts like the Paint Pot (ALMOST as good!) Then I put a drop of MAC Fix+ on the surface of my eye color (you can also use Visine! It's cheaper!) and dab my eye brush on the surface and pat the color onto my eyelid and/or crease. I take a fluffy blender and make tiny circular motions on the crease color to blend it up and out, it dries very quickly and won't give you a problem. And after everything I spray my face with Urban Decay DeSlick spray, only because my face ends up like an oil slick and this seems to help delay that a little. Little eyeliner and mascara and that's it for 10 hours or more. Sensual looks good for day, and it really looks good as a smokey eye for going out. Not that I go out much! But when I do, I know I can grab ANY of the NYX colors to match my outfit and they will stay on through sweat and humidity and anything. A big plus, I am NOT 'younger' any more. My eye area can't take a lot of frost or shimmer without screaming "WRINKLES!". That's why I had to give up my Urban Decay Naked 1 and 2 Palettes, they just aged my eye area. So far, the NYX does not enhance or amplify my less-than-perfect eye area. It dries smoothly, it sits smoothly, and that's a lot to ask from ANY eye shadow. *Groundwork paint pot (or French Fry NYX jumbo eye pencil) as a base on my lid/crease, Apricot Moose wet on the lid, with Sensual in the crease (and inner corners for me, I have almond shaped, close-set eyes so have to reverse where the corners are). Dry-brushed NYX Angel blush over the Sensual in the crease and up into the browbone for a transition color. MAC Dark Diversion Fluidline eyeliner top and bottom (it is a dark plummy charcoal). AMAZING. Long lasting and a tippy balance between made-up and effortless! *As a wash shade over NYX Golden (which isn't THAT golden and has an olive/yellow base). — 2 weeks, 5 days agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

Drug store price but Designer quality !
Such a huge fan of NYX shadows. They are drug store price range but they preform right up there with the high end ones. I have the white shadow which white is a hard color to get good pigment out of but holly makeup is it PIGMENTED! It has a smooth constancy and does not chalk up. No fall out and last a long time. You really can't ask for more in a shadow. — 2 weeks, 6 days agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful
