Manic Panic Classic Cream Formula Semi-Permanent Hair Color Reviews

Pretty Good!!
I used this as a refresher in between colorings. My hair is naturally dark brown. I don't bleach it so it's hard to get it to the shade of red that I want it but with this it really brightens the color. The bottle says to leave it in for 30 minutes but I've read that some people leave it in overnight or for several hours and the color lasts much longer. I'm going to try it. I know it's not a permanent hair color so it rinses out every time you wash it. I use cold water and sulfate-free shampoo because red tends to fade very fast. — 1 year, 1 month agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 2 of 2 people said helpful

Love
I used to have hot pink hair, and this was, by far the best vibrant hair color out there. The texture is perfect-thick enough to glide through the hair without dripping and being runny. It smells nice, still chemical-but not strong. They have a huge variety of colors. Give it a try, the store in Venice Beach is awesome! — 1 year, 10 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 5 of 5 people said helpful

Great for vibrant, bold colors
Manic Panic is a pretty good semi-permanent color. It works best of hair that is damaged so for my brown hair I have to blast it with bleach first, rinse, shampoo (without conditioner) and then slop it on. It is really easy to use. The colors are very vibrant and for the first 2 weeks or so they stay pretty bold before starting to fade. I use less shampoo and sometimes "wash" my hair with conditioner instead to keep the color longer. After that I find I need to do touch-ups ever 2-4 weeks to keep my hair really bright, otherwise the color turns into a pastel version of itself and then a dingy blonde. This doesn't really work on brown hair and even on dishwater blonde hair I'd recommend a round of bleach first. Fun stuff. — 4 years agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 4 of 5 people said helpful

Semi-Permanent
I like this beand a lot & have used it for years, but it's certainly not the best. This isn't bad but I prefer Punky Color when I can find it. The pros of Manic Panic is that it is easier to find & offers a lot more colors (that I've seen) but it doesn't last nearly as long as Punky Color (especially their blues/ turqouises). — 1 year, 12 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 2 of 3 people said helpful

Ok
I have this product in my hair for a few days now . When I first dyed it, it looked great. But as I washed it it starts to turn a nasty green color . Now it is an red brown color. Blondes should not use the color Raven Black for it turns green as u wash it ! — 2 months, 3 weeks agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

best colors
If you are looking for vibrant unnatural color this brand is definitely is the brand to go with. I have used turquoise, dark blue, pink and purple(bleached hair base) over the past year. I like the packaging, it makes it easy to see the amount of product left but doesn't help much when it comes to not making a mess. One complaint after a year of use is the amount of time the color lasts. It didn't bother me at first but a year later having a touch up less than every two weeks is a bit annoying. I would think for the price it would last through a few more washes. — 2 months, 4 weeks agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

There are way better products.
I am really surprised at all the high ratings for Manic Panic. I've had unnatural hair color for years and years now, and this is the last brand I ever go to. Literally. Why? Because it doesn't last. Pros: there is a wide selection of colors to choose from, it is very easy to find, goes on initially bright, and pretty easy to use. Cons: does not last more than two weeks. If you want great color payoff and for it to last? I highly recommend Special Effects for pinks, reds, and oranges. La Riche Directions makes great blues, and if you're looking for a good purple both Special Effects and Directions have good long lasting ones. Same with Punky Color. Punky Color is the brand where most of the colors fade the nicest. Manic Panic will completely wash out, so if that was what you wanted, then this would be for you. People are always amazed at how long my color stays (I don't have to do any touchups usually for 6-8 weeks and Sometimes even longer if I feel like rocking the lighter style for a while) and when I ask them what they use, they always answer MP. — 1 year, 2 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 3 of 4 people said helpful

Its alright
I used it to highlight my dark hair since I didn't want to bleach it. I used purple haze and my hair is naturally black, it was very visible in the sunlight and kind of indoors! Its kind of pricey but I enjoyed it! — 2 years, 1 month agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 4 of 4 people said helpful

I've been using this stuff for years, and haven't gotten sick of it yet.
This has to be the overall best semi-permanent hair dye. The wide variety of colors is astonishing, too. I would go on about all the benefits, but I'll name just my favorite thing about it. That is the fact that you can mix different colors from the same brand together to make your own unique hair color. It's like mixing paints. I have a mix of Electric Banana and Wildfire in my hair right now, because I couldn't find an orange I liked. And it looks fabulous if I don't say so myself. — 3 years, 6 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 5 of 6 people said helpful
