I get it now.
I ordered this strictly because of rave reviews from allure et al. I got it and did not see a difference at right away. But after a while I realized it was not trapping eyelashes in the pad, it did not pinch my eye lid. And it does a great job on my eyelashes as well. Like no other
I have Asian lashes, and you know what that means: stick-straight-short-sparse lashes. I've tried using various eyelash curlers--metal ones and plastic ones--and I've never been able to achieve the curl the Shu Uemura gives me. However, I've extended that life to close to a year. They say that the metal will warp, after time, thus making the curler somewhat of a hazard to use. So, take good care of this curler. I always returned mine to the box after each use, to ensure that nothing will affect its shape and make. This curler is a great investment, in my book, because if you count the number of curlers that break on you or do not work as well, it kind of evens out. Great...but be careful!

Best lash curler around!
I love the Shu Uemura eyelash curler! I HAVE to use it every morning and everytime before I go out. It curls perfectly and lasts. People say its a bit pricey but it's not a huge dollar amount difference and well worth it. The only complaint I have is that they don't sell replacement pads. Worth It!
I have very long, thick lashes, but they're straight so I've use an eyelash curler since I began wearing make up. I've tried almost every brand, and this is by far the best. It doesn't bend the lashes, but gives them a nice sweep. Worth every penny.
