Laura Mercier Foundation Primer

Average member rating of 6.9

This pricey, fragrant primer promises to smooth all skin types and hold foundation all day. If you have normal or dry skin, the heavy white cream takes a while to sink in before you can lay your foundation, and it might be too much for oily skin. The oil-free formula is a major plus (the directions say it can go on without moisturizer). Still, if it really wanted to protect the skin, it should boast some level of sunscreen.

As an extra bonus I put on the secret finish later in the day to maintain the glow! I don't use laura mercier foundation either! IT really makes a difference when I DON"T use it! Long lasting

This product is definitely long lasting but I recently did a comparison experiment with this product, Shiseido Pre-Makeup SPF 15, and my Smashbox Photo Finish Primer, and I happen to like the other primers more than this one. Aware of the Aftermath

    by udaydream2 (7 reviews)
Laura Mercier Foundation Primer: Make-up wears very well on top of this sheer light-weight foundation primer, but you will certainly be aware of the merciless blackheads that will amazingly appear upon the removal of this product. Yikes! ...not worth the blockages. May 20, 2008, 7:58 am

    it's okay

I kind of think this was a waste of my $22 because it's just okay. I find that it actually makes my foundation sit on top of my skin and even makes my t-zone more shiny. I have let it set for several minutes just in case I was applying foundation too soon after applying the primer, but I still experience the same result. Seems like lots of the girls on popsugar really love this product though. Might depend on your skin type. October 25, 2007, 11:08 am

    OK

I like it better than SB brand. It's like a light lotion which to me is better than a serum. Less slippage of makeup. There may be a cheaper brand that works better so I'll keep shopping. Wouldn't bother buying again. May 24, 2008, 6:39 am

    Not For Sensitive Skin

    by Kat___ (60 reviews)
This went on very smoothly but after about 5 minutes, it burned my sensitive skin and I had to wash it off. Better choice is Smashbox Foundation Primer, original formula or the new Light formula for oily skin.... May 6, 2008, 3:20 am

    mixed results

    by cougarstripper (15 reviews)
When I lived in Cali, it was too drying. Now I'll try it in the Dirty South to see if the results are better. I don't think it's a good match if you tensd to use heavier moisturizers unlessyou wait a few minutes before applying. April 30, 2008, 1:52 am

    Every pallette needs primer!

    by shellie123 (5 reviews)
Laura Mercier's foundation primer is absolutely necessary after moisturizer and before foundation. It takes a short while to completely dry. But worth the wait in applying your concealer as it will stay as is all day long. April 29, 2008, 7:40 am

    Not for me

    by IrishJane (121 reviews)
I really like the Laura Mercier line but I was not pleased with this particular product. The texture was okay and the application was smooth. It just didn't work with my oily skin type and felt rather "heavy". I prefer to just use the Laura Mercier Oil-free foundation alone. April 26, 2008, 4:55 pm
