John Frieda Brilliant Brunette Luminous Color Glaze Reviews

Gross!
Made my hair sticky and simply would not wash out. I don't even know how this product made it into stores. It didn't do anything for the color of my hair, either. What a waste of money. — 2 years, 3 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 1 people said helpful

Good and bad...
I love the shine and hint of color this applies after use, but I hate the nasty sticky feeling it leaves on my hair when I use it as directed. It makes it impossible to style my hair and I end up washing it again to get rid of the greasy, lank, sticky feeling that is left in my hair. I have gotten some success if I mix a small bit of glaze with my conditioner. I don't end up with the gross hair, still get the color boost, but I do loose a some of the shine. I wish this stuff wasn't such a pain to use. Best bet? Stick with a shine booster and/or temporary color from Herbal Essences. — 3 years, 8 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 4 of 4 people said helpful

blah
I got this to use to keep my colored hair vibrant in between colorings. It didn't do that. This stuff smells awful, leaves a residue in my hair, and no noticeable color boost. — 4 years, 8 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

Limited colors
I wish John Frieda would recognize that some people have darker shades than "brilliant brunette". I used this for my natural onyx black hair and didn't see much of a difference. There was a little bit of extra shine and changed the texture of my hair slightly, but did nothing to enhance the color of it. I've had better results using plain old Pantene midnight expressions conditioner! And also, like some of the other reviewers said, it's messy to use even in the shower. It stains your hands temporarily and can even stain your white shower curtains/tiles if you are not careful. Not worth the effort or the money. — 4 years, 12 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 6 of 6 people said helpful

ewe
I have thick hair and decided to try this to give me a little color boost which it desperately needed. This however was not the solution. It didn't do anything for me at all other that having to spend extra time in the shower with a smelly mess in my hair. Yuck. I didn't try it again. — 5 years, 3 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 1 people said helpful

Do not like this!
It didn't do anything for my hair, but did leave my towels brown and the shower too! — 2 years, 5 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 3 of 3 people said helpful

Stains my hands!
This works for me. It made my hair soft and shiny, and frizz free. It had a nice scent imo. But it staaaains your skin, your shoulders, everything! I would not buy it again. — 4 years, 9 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 1 people said helpful

Works alright
I used this in the summer to give my natural brunette hair color an extra boost. Interestingly, it brought out the red under-tones in my hair. I didn't mind though because I got a lot of compliments of how nice my hair color was. The smell takes a bit to get used to. Kind of like chemicals mixed with cocoa. I found it pretty easy to apply but the product did stain my hands. But the stains came off pretty easily if I scrubbed them right away. If you don't catch the extra drips, though, you'll wind up with random brown stains on your temples, on your shoulders, etc. Took me 15 minutes to scrub a stain off of your forehead. As long as I rinsed it out of my hair really well, I didn't find any stains on my towels. I haven't bought this product in a while, but I do like the clear glaze for the same shine without the color fuss. — 11 months, 3 weeks agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

Not perfect but good
I have to admit that this stuff doesn't smell good, it has a very icky texture when it first comes out of the bottle, and it does dye my hands whenever I use it (occasionally leaves a bit of color on my ears too) but it works. I scrub my hands with a loofah after I have applied it and that usually gets all the color off my hands. It does take a long time to rinse out, especially if I accidentally use too much, but if I don't rush the rinsing it doesn't leave any residue. I didn't realize how much it helped my color stay until I ran out and because I didn't love the negative points of the product I didn't replace it. It took about a week and a half before my color faded noticeably. I bought another bottle before I went to the salon to get my hair dyed again. For me some of the hassle of the product is worth it because of how it helps maintain my color. — 1 year, 4 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful
