December 6, 2007, 7:53 pm I was trying to switch away from mainstream deoderants, because I don't like the active ingredient (the aluminum zirconium compound in most deoderants)--I don't like the way that ingredient makes my skin feel. Tom's of Maine does a good job with that, and uses hops of all things as its active ingredient. The downside, though, is that it's not that great on particularly warm days--I find I have to alternate between this and my old deoderant in order to maintain the best protection when it's really hot out.6 of 6 people found this review helpful.

Long time user
by ecosalu (5 reviews)I've been using their unscented deodorant for at least seven years - I like it because it's light (it's clear and doesn't stain clothing), it works (lasts all day for me), and I like the smell (I know, it's unscented but it still has an ever so slight fragrance that I happen to like). May 29, 2008, 11:11 pm I've been using their unscented deodorant for at least seven years - I like it because it's light (it's clear and doesn't stain clothing), it works (lasts all day for me), and I like the smell (I know, it's unscented but it still has an ever so slight fragrance that I happen to like). It doesn't get top marks for me though because I really am trying to cut down on packaging and plastics and this comes in a pretty chunky plastic container that I feel guilty tossing out. Also, I have some concerns about the daily use of PROPYLENE GLYCOL on my body - which is the first ingredient and has been linked to some unwanted health impacts.5 of 5 people found this review helpful.

Not so great for sensative skin!
by ashumard (93 reviews)
I have fairly sensitive skin and so I thought this deodorant would be great because there are no harsh ingredients however I was wrong it burned when I would put it on and caused my underarm skin to peel. I do give it a 5 though because it did protect against odor. May 4, 2008, 4:33 pm4 of 4 people found this review helpful.

My HG everyday deodorant
by anaxarete (5 reviews)I started wearing Toms because I was looking for a deodorant that was unscented and aluminum free. On an average day, if I apply it in the morning, it keeps me un-smelly all day. January 27, 2008, 7:10 am I started wearing Toms because I was looking for a deodorant that was unscented and aluminum free. On an average day, if I apply it in the morning, it keeps me un-smelly all day. Even if I haven't showered that day (it does happen sometimes) and I apply it in the morning, it'll work throughout the day. It is true that in July and August (here in NYC) I will probably have to re-apply at some point during the day. When I was in nursing school, at the hospital, nervous and in a polyester uniform, I chose to wear an antiperspirant; but for life in the classroom and elsewhere Toms was perfect.4 of 4 people found this review helpful.

I would really like to like this product but...

This would not normally be the first deoderant I would reach for when it comes time again to purchase a new deoderant(it's also relatively expensive may I say!). But after there has been talk about for the aluminum in deoderants is unhealthy and such I ended up reaching for it. Ofcourse I nose swatched through the various rather avante-garde scents and really could not find one that took my fancy. They smell strong and...just odd...I guess. So I grabbed the "scent-free" version (which sorta smells waxy). Fortunately,I am not a person who sweats or has B.O. issues because not only is this not "Long-Lasting" it just plain doesn't do a thing! I did hit the gym and inadvertently was testing it. As it turns out I did have a faint unnatractivbes natural scent shall we call it and it seemed I really just applied the deoderant in vain....3 of 4 people found this review helpful.

This deodorant has been around way before the whole 'going green' trend started happening. As much as I'd love to go all natural and buy products like this one, I can't use something that doesn't work! I don't sweat that much (honestly!), but by the end of the work day, things aren't that fresh anymore. Don't even get me started about using this at the gym. The scents are pretty good though. but unless you don't sweat at all or do zero activity during the day, skip this one.2 of 2 people found this review helpful.

Hippie deodorant
by butterflyblue81 (11 reviews)This stuff works sometimes. If you are prone to wetness and odor you will have to re-apply during the day and put it on before bed. Just Okay
by kimbear (16 reviews)I stay away from anti-perspirants so I tend toward the natural lines of deodorants. Tom's is just okay. It actually cause some underarm redness (I am super sensitive). I have now been using the natural salt spray deodorant and have loved it for over a year. May 30, 2008, 7:07 am1 of 1 people found this review helpful.
