Banana Boat Summer Color, Self-Tanning Mist, Fresh Citrus Fragrance Reviews

Good
I found this to be a pretty good self-tanner. I wasn't looking for very deep tan, just wanted a bit of natural-looking color. This spray is easy to apply, I didn't have any streaking, uneven tone, etc. It does develop artificial tanner smell sometime after application, but I haven't found a tanner that doesn't do that, so just have to deal with it. The color is rather natural, not orange or yellow- and this is the most important part. To get really good results exfoliate well, shave, apply moisturizer (skin MUST be well moisturized to be evenly tanned), spray on the tanner one area at a time, distribute it with your (or someone else's haha) hands, wash hands, wait till it all dries, and go ahead with your life. Don't apply too much at a time, it's better to add color gradually to have more natural color and avoid any color mishaps. I prefer to apply it in the evening, so I can just wash off the tanner smell in the morning. I do recommend this, and will buy again. — 11 months, 1 week agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

Spray VS Lotion (EDIT)
**** 4/14/12: I have changed my rating from 4 to 6. I have gotten used to the application process and the heavier amount of spray that comes out of the nozzle, but the smell is still pretty bad. Typically, I will put on a tanner at night and the smell is gone by morning. This is not the case with this one. It smells all the time. The color is nice, but it tends to fade in patches. Better options out there. **** I have been in love with the BB Summer Color line for just about forever! I was recently out of town and thought it would be easier to take the spray version rather than the lotion. In this case, I was wrong. This is the second spray tanner I have used, so in a way I am comparing it to the Loreal version, which is an okay product but not fantastic in itself. First, I did a test spray into the air then started to apply to my body. The Loreal spray is a very fine mist while the BB spray saturates your skin. You really have to be careful not to overdo it. Now, the worst part about this spray is that it never really feels dry. I put it on at night and was watching an hour long tv show, waiting for it to dry. With the lotion, it is less than 10 minutes. With the spray, it still felt tacky and sticky an hour later. I finally gave up and went to bed. I then woke up a few hours later and went to check in the mirror. I had a few splotches around my neck area. I used a washcloth and was able to remove them quite easily. I was also starting to notice the strong, typical self-tanner smell which is almost non-existant in the BB lotion version. (As a side note, when first applying the spray, I really didn't like the "lime" smell. It was a lot like lime + bug spray, but better than the Loreal smell.) When I woke up in the morning, most of the tan was even. I had a few splotches here and there that I will need to correct, but overall the color is nice. However, the application for me personally, was too difficult. I prefer tanners that work really well and are "idiot-proof." The lotion version is that way - a blind person could put it on with no streaks. I think this product would work better if the mist was finer. Next time I will use I will make sure not to overapply. However, I did read some of the reviews that say they are only getting 3-4 tans out of a can and I am getting more. Maybe I am not overapplying as much as I think. All in all, I do prefer the Loreal version to this, but with Loreal, you really will get only 3-6 cans per bottle but I prefer the color and ease of application to the BB spray. I will definitely be sticking with my "go-to" BB lotion version. — 1 year, 1 month agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 2 of 2 people said helpful

Annoying to apply
It took me a couple of tries to get the hang of this. The trick is to apply two coats in a row, otherwise the color won't show up, even on the super pale. Be sure to rub this product in right after you spray (it dries quickly) to avoid streaks. The color is natural-looking and doesn't smell too bad/strong, but the color doesn't last for very long (two days at the most) and neither does the bottle. — 4 years, 6 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 3 of 6 people said helpful

almost perfect.
I picked this one up as a last resort at the drugstore because they were out of my fave drugstore brand self-tanner of choice. I paid a little under $7 for it which I thought was inexpensive compared to the $9 brand sitting right next to it! During application I almost became overwhelmed by the "fresh citrus fragrance" and had to take a few breaks during applying that night! But when I woke up in the morning, it was probably the best low-end spray tanning result I've ever had. My husband kept remarking that it was the best he's seen my pale skin faux-tanned-- EVER, but that it had the WORST smell that night I've ever put him through with all of my products! It did smell pretty darn bad, I admit. But I rate it so high due to the end result on my pale skin and the low price in contrast to it's competitors. There was a little over one full-body application in the can for me with just enough left over for next-day touch ups. If it didn't have that dreaded smell, this would have been perfect! — 3 years, 8 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 2 of 2 people said helpful

Worked beautifully!
Normally when I use a sunnless tanner I get lines around my wrists and sploches near my ankles. I don't have any with this! Its a beautiful product without orange color or streaks. Of corse after spraying you should rub it in... But it has a beautiful tan color that goes great over a base tan! The scent didn't bother me, inhaling it was gross but the smell wasn't bad. Worth it. — 9 months, 2 weeks agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

Wow. This stuff left me speechless.
Im addiced to self tanners. This one however was the best!!! I didnt have to rub it in, just spray it on, so it was SO easy and didnt turn my hands a funky color. It gave me a nice brown color and does not look uneven or streaky. I cant get over how easy it was to apply and how much color half a can gave me. Not to mention its cheap!!! 6$ from target. one can doesnt last but maybe two or three times but its so cheap that i dont even care. Use it!!! It gives you such a beatiful natural color — 1 year, 1 month agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 1 people said helpful

Amazing product
I bought this at target for around $7, at first I was little skeptical because of the price but in this case YOU do NOT get what you pay for! This product was easy to apply, dried quickly, smelled amazing, did not streak at all and the color was perfect! It was not orange at all!! I will be purchasing this product for all my tanning needs! — 1 year, 2 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 1 people said helpful

Amazing
I am a self-tan junkie and this product is one that I buy consistently. The mist goes on evenly and lasts longer then other mists. The smell is so much more refreshing then most other self-tanning products. I can get it at Target for $7 which is a steal. This product has given me a realistic looking tan every time I use it no matter what the season. I usually can get 4 applications with one can. I do lighter coats and build my color rather than spray on the whole can because if you're not careful you can create uneven color with uneven application so I find lighter layers helps prevent this. I have fair skin so 2 light applications usually brings me to my desired glow. And I just spray it on, dance around to let it dry and then I'm good to go. I get compliments year-round about my tan and people find it hard to believe that its from a can but that is the beauty of this product! Its a true self-tanning gem. I love it! — 1 year, 4 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 4 of 4 people said helpful

Great!
This stuff is great! I can never get the lotions to go on evenly, but I had no problems with this spray. My skin color is uneven with reddish patches and mild tan lines and this stuff evened it all out. It gives a very natural looking tan too. It smells waaaaay better than all of the other sunless tanners I've tried. You just have to use it in a well ventilated area. The smell goes away after it dries, unlike other self-tanners' stench that doesn't seem to go away until the fake-bake has nearly worn off. The color lasted about 6 days. Finally, it's under $10, so I think it's an excellent value. — 2 years, 2 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 3 of 3 people said helpful
