Smashbox Photo Finish Color Correcting Foundation Primer

Average member rating of 6.2

These pricey, tinted primers claim to correct color, reduce wrinkles and "defy" dark spots. Reality check? There was minor improvement in redness, but not enough to skip makeup, as suggested. For oily skin types, layering the slippery silicone base over a moisturizer with SPF and topping with foundation may be too much. But normal to dry can experiment with the cheaper travel-size options before buying a full bottle.

    This is my secret weapon

I've got combo skin with redness issues, so I use the green color-corrector and I love -- would not leave the house without it. Even my super-cheap mother forked over the $38 for some. We're talking about a woman who wears blue Maybelline mascara. Seriously. November 28, 2007, 5:00 pm

Green Primer - This product worked for me

Like many of the other reviewers, I have red undertones to my skin. I bought the product thinking it would transform my red and uneven skin tone in to a porcelain palate. May 8, 2008, 9:52 am Like many of the other reviewers, I have red undertones to my skin. I bought the product thinking it would transform my red and uneven skin tone in to a porcelain palate. Of course, the product can't do that, but it doesn't promise that either. I have found that with the green primer, followed by foundation, my skin's imperfections are balanced (having cleansed and moisturized my skin before). The truth for me was when I saw photo's of myself with and without the product on. In the past, I had tried concealer sticks and products that you apply with a brush, and I did not get the same smooth finish or overall coverage. Finally, I use a loose powder foundation, and this product works very well in combination with loose powder, which applies smoothly and flawlessly. I am on my second bottle, and will buy another as I have found this to be the best correcting product for my skin type. The only downside I have found is when the pump can no longer pull the primer from the bottle, you have to unscrew the top and bang the bottle on your hand. The bottle also needs to be stored upright at this point, as the primer will make it's way in to the top of the pump and dry around the top of the bottle. One bottle lasts me about ~two months. Color Adjust

    by sillyangel (15 reviews)
I use the color adjust one that reduces redness. Well, i use this off and on and it seem like it doesn't help me at all. It's just in my container, collecting dust. Not worth the price. December 20, 2007, 7:54 pm

I had some colouring from vacation over the summer and hoped this would help conceal dark spots while I used another product to lighten them. Big mistake choosing this product!!! Not only did it make absolutely NO difference, it made my skin oilier than normal. It caused my makeup and powder to cake (something I had no problem with until I tried this corrector). I would recommend NOT buying this product and spending your money and time on a good spot fading product. I threw this product away and continued with the spot treatment which was amazing. File this Smashbox product under "What not to buy". April 18, 2008, 11:12 am

I can put it on by itself and go without makeup and I get great results. I don\'t like the size in the bottle as the pump does not get it all out, so I buy two travel sizes instead, for the same or lower at Sephora and I can squeeze everything out. I have oily skin and it works great with my foundation. April 6, 2008, 6:36 pm

She has now gotten everybody in her neighborhood hooked on this product! Also try the smashbox o-glow blush - it looks really natural. April 29, 2008, 12:02 pm
