Tanning costs a lot of money and it can cost you your life. However, it is also safe if you do spray tanning which costs $40 a week where I come from. NO NO NO

Thanks, I will definitely steer clear of these. I agree that the L'Oreal products are very greasy and irritated my skin as well.

GREAT info! I've used a few of the products and agree that they aren't worth the price (the Freeze 24/7 and the Dr. Brant neck cream). There are several listed that I have thought of trying but will now refrain from doing so or try a sample first. Likely though, having seen that some of the negative effects didn't occur until after several weeks of use....I may just skip them altogether rather than mess with the samples.

The only one of the aforementioned "Terrible 24" I've used is the Garnier Skin Renew – and I'd have to agree with the review & average star rating. Nothing miraculous by any stretch of the imagination. Also, thankful to not find any Lumene products on this list. Recently began using a few & love them!

Oh My Goodness...yet AGAIN, happy that I saw this...I am in my 30's and starting to get proactive about anti aging. So I was up late one night when in my sleepy, vulnerable state- yea, ever wonder WHY they put those infomercials on at THOSE times?? I see their side by side comparison pics of Ms. Cindy Crawford at like 43, looking every bit in her 20's as she did IN her 20's...Surprise, SURPRISE! Most of us women would like to try for those results- especially when they tout their "money Back GUARANTEE"...Throw in the ever adorable and familiar (in our lives since the 70's) Valerie Bertinelli, and now you've REALLY got a lot of us semi-conscious women SOLD! Well all I will say is Thank God I have a rule, for this very reason, that I am NOT allowed to buy ANYTHING after 1 am! *An occasional Dooney Satchel at 12 midnight on one of those shopping channels is still acceptable in my world :) because all of my subsequent research on Meaningful Beauty, except of course, for MB's own site which just repeatedly sings the praises of this rare melon and little else, has yielded almost entirely disappointing/ borderline scary testimonials from customers. So in all honesty ladies, I haven't tried the stuff myself but the consensus of my research suggests: BUY AT YOUR OWN RISK! Especially if you have sensitive skin, are looking to achieve ANY of the results promised in the infomercial or -and I TRULY hope none of us educated Ladies were really expecting this, but the beauty industry/expectations in this country can cause the average woman to go "mad"!-, you are trying to look like PROFESSIONAL MODEL Cindy Crawford ;) -MinionGarner

So Happy I saw this!! I am NEW to this forum (PS I am THRILLED to find a community of women sharing these "nuggets" of wisdom!); it was nice to get some unbiased advice before my trip to Sephora today (I'm a Sephora Junkie!). Had I seen the price before reading this I may have assumed the price point was reflecting the quality of product...but I should know better by now, as I have found that "what works, just works". Some of the inexpensive staples ARE staples in our beauty bags for generations because they work plain & simple!

I actually like that Garnier SPF 28. It plumps up line and protects well. Minus one star for the real strong scent, but it performs fine. If it feels heavy, use less or stick with using it in the winter.

I agree about hope in a jar... I HATED it! But Ole Henriksen... really? I love the truth serum. Use it daily, and see a differene in my skin when I forget to use it.

MATTER OF FACT, THEY HAVE A DOLLAR GENERAL STORE THAT I CAN THROW A ROCK AND HIT FROM MY HOUSE, AND THEY GAVE OLIVE OIL FOR $1 A BOTTLE. I agree with a # of these. Interesting how many of these were eye creams - I think that is one of the hardest products to find that really works. I do however like the boost of Vit C in Ole Hendrikensen's Truth Serum. It does help brighten my skin.

I know there are no miracle cures for my acne prone, aging skin, but I do like to find quality products, that are good for me, and expect to wait 90 days for most products to show their effectiveness. Our skin only turns over once every 60 days so it would stand to reason that at least that much time is needed to see any difference. This story proves that cheap or pricey, some work and some don't. Thank you for this informative story!

Of course there aren't any miracle products to stop aging. But there are great products out there to keep your skin looking its best. The lists here aren't scientific studies, they are products rated by people who have tried, or use them, and they are inaccurate. The Patricia Wexler Universal Anti-Aging Moisturizer SPF 30 is an example. The next to the last review is on a completely different product, it's for the Wexler MMPi Skin Regenerating Serum, not the moisturizer.

Loreal's Revita Lift's facial wash was okay but the moisturizers are just a waste of your good money, indeed. I used it once and I had breakouts the next morning. I used it again for a week just to check if it was just because I was having my period. But the breakouts didn't go after 2 weeks, I just had to throw it away.

I think it's sad that women buy into the claims that companies make and then gripe about a product not working. If you do a little homework and learn what works and what doesn't, you'll never have to worry about wasting money again.

sure we would like to get plenty of sleep and avoid stress, but that is not always possible. of course we all know to stop/never start smoking and protect ourselves from the sun. to me the things we can avoid like smoke and sun should be on there yet stress is something that many of us cant avoid.

I have to admit that when I see the word "serum", I turn and run in the other direction. Why do all anti-aging products have to be so oily as to either make you break out or have no effect whatsoever? I've yet to find a horizontl lipline filler that works, and I am so disgusted, because I never smoked and my lip pencils are useless w/out some help in this area. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I'm glad I read this article! I currently use the Olay 7-in-1 Total Effects lotion and the Total Effects Revitalizing Foaming Cleanser and love them but am always looking at the L'Oreal products and Garnier products wondering if they work any better... as well as watching the Meaningful Beauty informercials... now I know I should stick with what I have and not waste any money on trying out these new products!
