I have family that uses Cetaphil because it's so gentle and they swear by it. I don't have acne prone skin but mine is always red. The Dove bars are awesome and gentle enough for all over my body and face. Great stuff.

I just bought and tried the Arm & Hammer Deodorant. I like it, but will test it out further before writing a review. Tom's deodorant smells worse than my own body odor. I haven't tried the Frieda hairspray, but have several Luxurious Volume products I love. I don't care for the St. Ives nor the scent of Dove, but agree that these products are pretty great buys across the board from the ones I've tried.

the maybelline full n soft is THE BEST MASCARA EVER! im a makeup artist and i have used many many mascaras and this one seems to be right for everyone. no clumping so smudging stays on all day but yet its very easy to remove with make up remover . i dont think ill use any other mascara on anyone

Pretty good article. I pretty much always shop at drugstores or dollar stores for my products like this and you would be amazed at the quality of a lot of these if you have not tried them. I am really surprised that Suave didnt make the list, nor Noxzema, which has been a tried and true product for years with great pricing. My new favorite hairspray for this month is Got to Be with cashmere, I use the mousse and the hairspray both and my hair feels amazing after I use them. Super lightweight and hubby isn't afraid to runhis fingers thru my hair when I use it. He said its the only hairspray i've ever used that he likes. Sounds like the John Frieda one is similar so I may have to try it as well. Wet n Wild eye shadow is great for the price as well. And like another reviewer said, ponds cold cream is great to use nightly for young skin! Not to mention for the mommies out there it makes great face paint for the kids for halloween or plays, and all that is needed to remove it is more cold cream!

I love the Revlon Colorstay Foundation. I almost gave up on wearing foundation because of my oily skin. I tried it and I loved it. @ladykristinn, maybe a darker powder closer to your skin tone worn over the foundation to set it might counteract the whitecast? IJS... don't know your skin tone but I wear "toast" and I get compliments about my face daily now.

Basis cleanser is awesome & smells FRESH! It's been ages since I've used it and had moved on to other brands because I like trying new things. However, reading this article now, after many years of experience with other much more expensive cleansers, reminds me how how "basic"ally wonderful Basis is! It leaves your skin feeling fresh and CLEAN (not overly dry, but remember to moisturize!).

I used to buy dept. store make-up but, when I became unemployed I started dabbling in drugstore make-up and was pleasantly surprised. I use OLAY REGENERIST moisturizer and get TWO for under $40 sometimes even less when I use coupons. I was spending $40 for one at the dept store. I also LOVE Physicians Formula eye shadows, face poweders.. If you go to their website you can often times get a rebate to try products for FREE! I've also been dabbling w/ the ELF.COM website. Where most things are under $5. I particularly like the make-up brushes for $1 or the studio line brushes that are still a steal at $3 a piece! I also like the nail polishes.. They have buy 3 get 3 FREE and they are only $1. I've work the florescent pink for almost 2 weeks chip free!

I love this article. I actually like that the reviews are done by many women. I never trust best product lists from beauty mags because they are usually based on 2 or 3 editors trying products for a few weeks. Consumer reports does scientific testing on these products. These reviews may not be scientific, but they're good enough for me. Plus I love drugstore products. I would say that it is one of the reasons that my husband and I can put 20% down on a home with only 3 years in the work force. I am sure that there are people who don't need to buy these products but why waste the money when they do just as good a job. I would rather spend the money on a trip to Hawaii. Then I might blow some money on an expensive sunblock LOL!

I found this article very helpful. KatieLee, I'll bet a billion bucks that you're a spoiled little girl. I bought a $120 cover-up compact from a very top-of-the-line brand. It worked like it was crap. Later that month, I passed by a $5 cover-up that caught my eye. This one worked like magic. How come sauve wasn't on the list? I've been using sauve products for years and my hair fells and smells just as good as any that was mention. And it's price doesn't break you pocketbook. I have dry scalp and I've tried other products like for instance ( head and shoulders) and all it did was make it worse and burnt my scalp. So if you ask me you should try using suave and see what you think.

This list is deceiving. It's based on other consumers "opinion". It is not based on what's actually best for your hair. Just because a shampoo feels good does not mean that it's good for your hair. If you have ever gone to the hair shows they will tell you that Suave is actually the best product for your hair and that Pantene is the worst.

Good article. For me it's a hit or miss. There are some drugstore products that perform almost or just as good as the more expensive, department store brands for a third of the price and some that are just downright disappointing. But then again, the same can be said for more expensive brands also. I guess the only thing one can do is to try the product and see if it works for you. BTW, ignore *katie-lee* or whatever her name is. She's probably just a 10 yr old brat.

I've tried sooo many eye creams and always go back to Olay Regenerist--it's the best for me. Let us all hope that Saks will continue to thrive and won't ever have economical woes for the sake of all the KatieLee's in world. As for myself, I'm looking forward to trying the Olay Regenerist combo; I haven't started developing wrinkles just yet, but would definitely like to take some preventative measures without spending $100 on face cream that usually consists of worthless by-products. Some of the shampoos and conditioners listed in the above would probably not be worth my while; I'm a true blue Biolage user, and will always remain so. I take a lot of pride in my hair, so once I find something that meets my expectations I stick with it. Oh! Shopping tip for those of us on budgets: look for some of these products on Ebay; I just found the Olay Regenerist for $10 cheaper! :)

As a broke-ass college student in 2009, seeing products that work and keep money in my pocket is wonderful. I can't judge KatieLee for doing what she does, but I have to admit, I have a question: What place in their right mind would sell lip gloss that costs more than $100? Not even the finest retailers in the country sell lip gloss for $100. To top it off, the ingredients in the drugstore lip gloss and the department store lip gloss are exactly the same. So I really want to know, Ms. Lee. Where on earth is there a place that makes $100 Lip Gloss?

I'm looking forward to try this cause this does give a good chose of colors of shade in one compact instead of choosing several compact for different colors. I can't wait.
