Q: What makes adult acne different?

A: The pimples in your prom picture are likely not the same ones staring back at you in the mirror today. King says that adults a more likely to get "deep, cystic, painful acne … and more likely to have lesions, more inflammation, more redness, and [acne that] is harder to get rid of."

Also, teens tend to get acne on their foreheads and noses, due to increased oil production. Adults tend to get acne more on the lower half of their faces, like their chins. King says that Chinese face mapping correlates this part of the face with the adrenal glands. (Remember, the ones that respond to stress? Makes sense, right?)

I didn't know that adult acne has to be treated differently from teenage acne. I've had acne since in my teens. It was on my forehead and nose in my teens and is now on my cheeks and chin at 30. I would have never thought of putting oil on my face before especially with it already being oily.

Acne has been the bane of my existence since I was 11 years old. I left the pizza face stage around 18 and then, bring on the adult cystic acne thank you very much. I can keep it under control when I wash my face every single day. If I miss just 1 day, it is guaranteed I will have blemish the next day. I am going to try a couple of these remedies. Thank you!

Once my acne turned into golf balls on my face I endured 6 months of Accutane. It was worth every penny. I am about to turn 30 and I have bigger issues to deal with now, like wrinkles.
