Mildly minty
I did not know that there are 3 different Root Awakening shampoo products. I like the Strength Restoring one. The shimmery and pearly light greenish-white color shampoo lathers and cleans my hair and scalp well without drying out my colored/damaged hair. I follow up with the matching conditioner. This combo leaves my hair shiny and healthy looking. I find their minty scent is milder than Aveda Rosemary Mint. If you like a strong minty scent, maybe Aveda's is for you. But this one is cheaper, and I actually like the John Frieda's fragrance better than Aveda's. My hair feels still good even the next day. It is not every day that I find my "next day" hair to be manageable and soft. If you love Aveda Rosemary Mint shampoo but hate their price tag, try this one. — 2 years, 6 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

good stuff
I like this shampoo a lot. It gives my hair shine and volume (which is important for long hair). Also my hair stays nice and clean longer with this product, and I don't feel any dryness. It's pretty soapy, so you use very little of it per wash, so this small package lasts pretty long. And the smell is very light and refreshing, which allows me to wear my perfume and not have all the smells mix up — 2 years, 1 month agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

So So
This is an okay shampoo but I wouldn't say that it's actually "Root Awakening". First off I hate the smell. It does clean hair but I found this made my hair really dry. A bit of a let down for John Frieda. — 2 years, 5 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 2 people said helpful

NO thanks!
I was really excited to use this shampoo. My mom sent me this product because she loves anything John Frieda but she wasn’t crazy about how this particular line smells. It smells pepperminty, it’s a pleasant smell but this particular product leans toward more medicinal peppermint. This shampoo is similar to the “Hydrate + nourish shampoo for dry scalp and breakage prone hair” she sent me both and I tried this one last. The texture is completely different. It is not a clear shampoo like the hydrate and nourish. It has a creamy texture and it immediately feels heavy. It does not lather very well, I tried just lathering on my wet hair and it just felt like how it feels to put a deep conditioner in your damp hair. I didn’t think that it would do much since it didn’t lather but as soon I finished in the shower and towel dried my hair the texture of my hair was completely different. It was dry and brittle. I had to use Moroccan oil to hydrate my hair. I tried it once more after this just to see if maybe it was something I had done to my hair versus the shampoo being terrible. Well, the shampoo is terrible. It made my fine hair look like a broom. This texture was so hard to get out of my hair. Usually if I try a bad shampoo I just deep condition but this took weeks just to rehydrate my hair. It was odd because my scalp seemed healthy it was the lower third of my hair that suffered from using this shampoo. I usually tell the boyfriend to use whatever shampoo is left that I don’t like using (men really don’t care do they?) and I felt terrible about even doing that, its sitting in my stockpile closet and I’m positive it will stay there. Save your money ladies! I do not recommend this! — 5 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

Moisturizes Well
This product has really been helping my dry hair and oily scalp (I got the Purify + Nourish for both of those problems). I am shampooing every other day instead of every day, and using the matching conditioner in my daily shower and the heat protecting spray I have. It does a good job, and the tingle is definitely more potent in the shampoo than the conditioner. Overall, I think this product is pretty good for your hair. — 11 months, 3 weeks agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

Great Shampoo
I bought this because of the smell. I love anything with mint. I had a spot around my bangs that was trying to thin out and it does seem as though it's growing in fuller. I bought the strengthening one as well because my hair is thinning mainly due to breakage. This is a great shampoo for the price. — 2 years agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

Best shampoo for Summer
The minty fresh smell and feel, makes it the ideal shampoo for the Summertime. It leaves the hair feeling light and mildly scented, while also very clean and frizz free. Ideal for everyday use. — 1 year, 2 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

Gentle and Amazing
The minty fresh smell is amazing and the shampoo is gentle yet cleansing (read: not too harsh, not harsh at all). — 1 month agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

Brilliant
i have fine and flat hair, but a ton of it! i love this product because it lifts the hair, but it doesn't leave any residues and weigh down your hair. i recommend pairing the oily scalp/dry hair version of this shampoo with the leave-in spray from this line. it really helps give it that little extra boost. :-) — 3 months, 3 weeks agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful
