Nars Sheer Glow Foundation Reviews

So disappointed!
I work at a Sephora and I'm the Nars #1 fan/"expert" at my store. I own SO many Nars products (even those not found at Sephoras and only at Nars boutiques) that it's strange to me why it's taken me so long to actually wear the foundation for the entire day (rather than just color striping me as a touchup on top of my other foundation). There are many good and bad things about this foundation. What I LOVE about it--it covers very well with one coat because it's a little thicker so it eliminates the need for concealer most of the time! It really does smooth over the surface of your skin. Not only does it even out a bit of texture issues on your skin, but it also physically makes your skin feel soft. Also, even though this is thicker, you only need a little bit of it--so even though the price of $42 for a bottle will scare many people away, you really do get your money's worth with this. Now with the bad things (at least bad to me). The bottle doesn't come with a pump. You CAN buy a pump separately (at a Sephora or Nars boutique/website), but that's $6 more. So it can get a little messy at first until you develop tricks to get it out easier. So with the total price including the pump it comes out to $48. Next, the name "sheer glow" isn't very accurate. YES, Nars stylists will say that you need to warm this up in your hand prior to applying this. (This is also one of the few foundations designed to be applied with your hands to warm it further). However, even after applying it correctly, the finish you get is natural and even on some people natural-matte. I was hoping to get a beautiful satin finish (but at least the new Pure Radiance Tinted Moisturizer gets that right!). Francois Nars himself says that skin should radiate through your makeup (in regards to the tinted moisturizer), but I was hoping that could be true with the sheer GLOW foundation. YES your skin does appear brighter after using this, but if you want a dewy finish, you won't get that with this (unless you use evian water and a wet foundation brush). Now the worse part (for me). IF YOU HAVE DRY SKIN, YOU SHOULD NOT WEAR THIS. This has a habit of emphasizing dry patches and becomes VERY cakey throughout the day--all over your skin. This foundation is misleading because it's supposed to add a little bit of moisture, but my skin appeared drier after using this. If you have normal or oily skin--this might be PERFECT for you!!! I always say, this is a GREAT foundation if 1) your shade matches and 2) you don't have dry skin. — 1 year, 2 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 7 of 10 people said helpful

Lovely medium coverage foundation
I was looking for a medium coverage foundation and loving NARS, I went with the Sheer Glow. I usually opt for lighter coverage foundations but this is still super easy to work with and doesn't go cakey. I wouldn't call this sheer since it does provide a fair amount of coverage, but if anyone shopping for this in person asks a sales associate they will tell you this is medium coverage. The color range of this foundation is great so I could see most people being able to find their match. Don't be put off by the word "glow" either. This doesn't make you look shiny and it doesn't seem to have any shimmer in it at all. For a lighter application, I slightly wet my foundation brush when applying this and it works magically. I do this in the summer months. I think my bottle will last me ages. A little goes a long way and this blends nicely so you really don't need much. I would definitely purchase this again. — 11 months, 2 weeks agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 1 people said helpful

Oil slick
Although I normally like Nars products, this foundation made me look oily. Yes, I know it has the word glow in it. However, it should not have made me look like I was prepping to sit out in the sun. I really thought that this would look nice since I tried it at the store and it applied beautifully. I was really disappointed that this was completely different. Since returning the Glow Foundation, I have upgraded to the Matte Foundation. The matte version looks so much better on skin that is oily or combination. — 1 year, 7 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 2 people said helpful

honestly.... ive never used this and i know its not a good test, but while i was at sephora, i took a pump of this on one hand and blended, and did the same with makeup forever hd on the other. the nars looked so caked and dry, my hand looked gross. but the makeup forever loked beautiful and smooth.., Update!!! I absolutely hated this. So dry and chalky — 1 year, 10 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 12 people said helpful

Color is amazing!
This foundation is pricey about $42 but it has amazing pigment and it looks natural. Since its water based its very light and breathable so it feels like nothing is on your skin. It does make you're skin look glowy and not shiny it's has a nice satin finish. If your skin is oily like mine I highly recommend a primer before application. — 4 months, 2 weeks agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 3 of 3 people said helpful

Very nice on mature skin
I really do like this stuff. I'm not sure if its the best, but its the best I have found so I'm sticken with it. I am an NC35 and I own this in Punjab. I'm right on the border though and next time I think I will go a shade darker. I apply this with Sephoras airbrush brush (which I love by the way). I'm in my early 30's so my skin is maturing a little and this still goes on very smooth. You can build the coverage which I like to. I don't need a ton so this is nice for me. I have tried Revlons colorstay and still use it every once in awhile when I want a little more color but I feel like this just goes on smoother with more of an airbrushed finish. — 1 year, 1 month agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 1 people said helpful

The best foundation for me
I have tried many foundations but I am in love with NARS Sheer Glow. Since I've used it, I'm surprised by all the compliments about my skin and people asking me what makeup I use. I have combination dry skin and this compliments by skin type. I don't really need a concealer because the foundation is highly pigmented and a little goes a long way. They say to apply it with your fingers but it goes better on my skin with a stippling brush. With the brush, I only need a little of the foundation. I'm over 40 and the dewy foundation is more complimentary for mature skin like mine as opposed to a matte finish. I also tried another high-end foundation and there was no comparison, NARS Sheer Glow outdid the competition so I returned the other bottle back. The only negative was that it did not come with a pump. I went ahead and bought the pump from Nordstrum but I will be using that same pump for my other NARS Sheer Glow foundation. Since using this, I've become a big fan of NARS. I love their bronzer and blush. As the weather gets warmer, I will be looking forward to trying their new tinted moisturizer with sunscreen. — 1 year, 1 month agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 6 of 6 people said helpful

BEST FOUNDATION hands down
I have tried every foundation out there, and this is the only one that makes my skin look better with it on, and over time. My skin has improved greatly since I started using this. I have not broken out once. The colour range is amazing and the finish is natural. The texture is smooth and very blendable. You cannot go wrong. It's hard for me to find the perfect colour match in other foundations. I use this formula during the dryer months and the sheer matte during the summer months. Worth every penny. It will be foundation for many years to come. — 1 year, 4 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 5 of 5 people said helpful
