Very Expensive
I own the Instyler and it smooths out my hair very nicely. I still have never been able to get curls which really bugs me. Very handy, if you have long Hair so you don't burn yourself
Okay so I've been using curlers on my hair for ver 30 yrs and now I use it on my daughters which have long hawaiian hair like I use too. I bought this off of ebay brand new purple for only 60 bucks and it was a Great investment. I do wish though I got the bigger barrel as where this one is better on long hair like my girls. It gives them beautiful locks. Careful though you can burn yourself if you rushing or not paying a attention. My hair is bra length and I burned my ear.. Ouch! I am hoping to buy the topstyler, but I have a bout 10 different curing products from every brand and I am a bit hesitant on spending $80 on a product that I have other curlers that work Wonderful, yet the topystyler like the instyler is very travel friendly. I love to dress my girls up and curl their hair for pictures. I have to confess I kinda burned my little one by accident when I was trying to curl every strand of hair. I can't believe it worked!
Like any heat styling tool, it took me a little practice-- but not for very long. To be honest, after brushing up on a few of the techniques in the short videos on their site you would think I had been styling my hair with it for weeks with success. I couldn't believe how easy it was once I got the basics down and that it wasn't a flimsy little metal & plastic combo to be used a few times and then tossed in the bin with a few of my older heat tools. With 3 heat settings, a rotating barrel that gets seriously hot, and a comb that helps you detangle, separate, and smooth-- it actually worked incredibly well. But like I said, not without trial and error. In the first 5 minutes, you know I had to go and burn my forehead really good because I didn't pay attention to how close I had the barrel to my head when I was working on my bangs! I've burned my forehead with many a curling iron in all of my years, so it was no big deal-- but I made a mental note to myself to make sure to tell you to be careful with the barrel and not get it too close. It seems like a no-brainer, I know-- but I did it anyway! A few of the challenges you may have out-of-the box: • sliding it throughout the length of your hair too quickly, or not in a smooth & steady motion • placing too much or not enough tension up against the barrel • not using the correct size of a section of hair in the InStyler • waking up your significant other at 7am because it's a little on the loud side while in motion! Where to start.
I gave this 5 stars because I do like the way it controls my over 40 and out of hormones, hair. I have a lot of hair, with a slight to a strong wave natural in my hair. Straightens lovely. However, it lost 5 stars for the price and the lack of quality, plus the company's return policy, if not purchased from them. I used my first one for only 5 months and the brush side of the plate started to peel off in huge chunks. Given the price, I thought for sure the company would stand behind the product, they did not. I bought it outside the website. Now, I have reordered, because its an effective and fast product for me; however, this time I bought direct from the company, and this time buying the warranty (again lost 5 stars) that should come with the product to begin with. I will warn that this is an extremely hot iron, watch and protect your ears. When it burns, it can take off layers. Not Impressed!
I gave it 5 stars because it does what they say it suppose to DO! I didn't buy the InStyler my sister did, thankfully! I was getting ready to buy it! I really like using hers, but she didn't like me using it! She barely used it herself, because she didn't want it to get over used (I GUESS I don't know)! She always tried to keep her stuff in really good, clean like new condition! So because of that I was going to buy one for myself. I was waiting for payday to order it! That is when only a day before payday her InStyler BROKE! It was still within the one year warranty so she called customer service. Told them that it stopped rotating and that she had only had it for 4 or 5 months. They said that she must not have been cleaning and maintaining it properly. My sister cleaned it after every use and followed the directions to a T! She only let me use it 4x's and I think she only used it 5 or 6x's herself! (Remember she had it for ONLY 4 or 5 months!) I use my straightener everyday and I have had it for 2 years and it still works Great! (I use an Andis ceramic straightener) They were telling her that she could send it in, (of course she had to pay for the shipping) and they would try to repair it or they could replace it. BUT that it would still cost her for the repairs and/or replacement! I don't know if their customer service/ product has gotten better! InStyler Rotating Iron
I bought this for my very short hair. My hair is very flat but bushy and very dry. I use it to try and curl my hair. It does curl it, for about 5 minutes. As soon as I finish a section and let it go, the curl starts letting also. When I finish, I HAVE to use hair spray (which I don't like to use) or there won't be any curls left. WORKS WONDERS
I just got this ast week. I ordered it and it works. I'm a woman with thick, shoulder length hair. And this thing went thru without a hitch!! I got the leopard print design on it and its so cute. It doesn't get too hot where you burn urself while learning how to maneuver it. It is dfferent from other curling irons. It has a brush on one side and rotating curler on other side. I was very skeptical at first. But now you can't keep me away from it. Even my 9 yr old granddaughter likes it. She wants her hair curled everytime she comes over. She likes how it doesn't take a long time to curl her hair and she keeps her hair up now. So she may get one for Xmas. Shhh. Not worth the $
Is this a good hair iron? Yeah, it's decent. The instructions say NOT to use any hair protectors like flat iron spray, which I did, and my hair became really fly-away frizzy. It is awkward to use at first, but you get used to it. Still, I didn't like having no control over the heat settings; it would have been nice to be able to turn down the heat when styling hair around my ears and my bangs. Also, the width of the barrel was problematic for styling those areas. It took a while to heat up, and the heat-protective pad that comes with it is a joke - I ended up using a large pot holder from my kitchen to protect my counters. Finally, I usually iron my hair right before work and I'm rushed in the morning. I don't have time to hang around and baby-sit the hair iron so the cat doesn't burn herself. Considering how hot it gets, how much of a rush most women are in, and how many of us have pets and small children, and ESPECIALLY considering the price tag on this, they should include some kind of heat-proof pouch that this can be stored in.
