I have not raved about a product so enthusiastically in a LONG time. I bought this epilator off of folica and it has been a fantastic investment. I usually pay the same amount just for ONE waxing session. It's saved me money and time, since I can tackle my legs, arms and underarms while sitting in front of the TV or on the phone (just make sure you put a towel under you though, as the plucked hairs go flying everywhere). The pain factor? Not bad at all, compared to waxing. It's a little bit scary the first time with the noise and just the simple fact of not knowing how to expect, but by the second time I didn't even flinch. Feels a bit like the pins and needles sensation you get when your foot falls asleep, if I had to compare it to something. Works really well with my hair type too (dark asian hair). Great epilator! Pulls out even fine, tiny hairs very efficiently. I am used to waxing, so the "pain factor" is bearable for me. (But you can always take a pure aspirin tablet 20 minutes beforehand if irritation is a problem!) — 3 years ago

I am so happy I bought this. Yes, it was quite painful the first time I used it. I would use it about 30 seconds on one leg and then do the other. I would use it little by little everyday and soon, it didn't hurt at all. I even did under my arms and bikini area! If you stick with it, you will eventually get used to it. If you already wax, this item will pay for itself. If you shave, the time savings will free you up and free up cupboard space because you can throw out that messy shaving cream. There is a little bit of smarting at first, but hey- it was that way when you started to tweeze your eyebrows too, so suck it up - it's worth it and you'll become accustomed to it! I've struggled with underarm hair all my life, and after just a few months of using this product, I'm sleeveless any time I want to be. You can save a little by going with the corded version instead of the cordless. — 4 years ago

The first time I used it it was a bit uncomfortable, but certainly nothing alarming. I quickly got used to the pulling sensation, and eventually it stopped bothering me at all. Probably because the areas I was going over were already smooth and didn't have any hair to remove. I did one shin and my bikini line the first time. The next day I went back and cleaned up the leg and did the other one. Uncomfortable, not that painful. Although, I will say, everyone has a different pain tolerance - I have a tattoo on my left calf, and it certainly wasn't anything near what I felt when I got that. The best part about it is the time it lasts. Because it removes hair from the root and not just the surface growth, I'm getting well over a week with no maintenance. — 4 years, 1 month ago
