Alterna Caviar Moisture Shampoo with Seasilk Reviews

Gross!
I bought this shampoo upon the recommendation of a stylist. I was fascinated by the fact that caviar could be used in a shampoo at all, as I had never even heard of such a thing. I know that marine proteins are supposed to be very good for hair health and growth, so I was very excited to give it a try. I must admit that I balked at the price, but figured that if I would get gorgeous hair out of it, then it would be worth every penny. So, I got home and was super eager to give this stuff a try. A little bit of information about my hair: it is very dry, frizzes unbelievably easy and is so thick that you would think I have the hair of three women on my head. It is medium-long, falling about to three inches beneath my collarbone. I am always trying to grow my hair longer and am willing to spend the money to do it, which is why I bought into this product line. When I stepped into the shower, the first thing I noticed about the shampoo was the scent—it has a difficult to define smell, but it was not too strong and smelled like a higher end perfume. The next thing that I noticed was the lack of lather. I ordinarily use sulfate free shampoos and so am not accustomed to a lot of suds, but this shampoo felt very runny in my fingers and barely made any lather at all. When I went back under the water to rinse it out, it felt sticky, and didn’t rinse clean at all. I kept rinsing and rinsing, but my hair never felt like I got all the shampoo out…it felt like the residue of a cheap soap. Still,.My hair was sticking together in clumps, and was an absolute mess. The huge amount of rinsing dried out my hair. It felt completely wrecked. Avoid this overpriced mess of a product for your hair’s sake! — 3 months, 3 weeks agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 1 people said helpful

Luxury for Hair
I decided to try this shampoo despite having very fine hair that tends to get oily at the roots by day two. I wanted to try a moisturizing shampoo for the winter months to offset all of the volumizing and clarifying shampoos I typically use. I have a couple Alterna styling products that I really like, but this is the first shampoo that I tried. First off, I love that this does not contain sulfates. I have a sensitive scalp so I really appreciate shampoos that are sulfate free because they tend to be less irritating. When I opened this the smell was divine. It is one of the best smelling shampoos I have ever used (on par with my favorite from Bumble and Bumble). For being sulfate free, this lathered really well in my fine hair. Although I prefer no sulfates, a good lather is important to me. After using this my hair felt silky smooth and very nourished. It didn't feel weighed down at all either. My oily scalp didn't return any sooner than usual which is what I was afraid of using a more moisturizing formula. When I blow dried, my hair felt silky smooth and still smelled amazing. This bottle is just a bit bigger than the standard Bumble and Bumble bottles and costs almost about $7 more, so it is an expensive product. However, I did prefer the performance of this to the Bumble and Bumble or Pureology shampoos. If you are willing to spend more money on hair care, this shampoo is a great splurge. This makes me want to try more shampoos from Alterna. — 3 months, 3 weeks agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 2 of 4 people said helpful

I have very dry, frizzy hair, thick hair.
The texture is thick and gel-like, which is a plus to me as most sulphate free shampoos are very runny and hard to dose, but as this is somewhat thicker, which makes it easy to use the right amount, and you really only need one tiny amount, because it spreads easily and lathers well. The sea scent is more subtle than the conditioner’s scent. It leaves my hair amazingly soft, hydrated and shiny! I thought it might be somewhat stripping as a rich lather usually isn’t a good sign, but this has never dried out my hair one single bit. The price is a huge downfall though. — 3 years, 10 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 1 people said helpful

Gives me bad itchy scalp and dandruff
I love how this shampoo makes my hair look and feel, but my scalp suffers every time I use it, I have tried to just lather the ends and not the scalp but then I still have semi oily roots. — 4 years, 10 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 1 people said helpful

Very Good for Fine/Damaged Hair
This is one of the few shampoos that cleans while moisturizing my fine-damaged-color-treated hair. — 2 years, 2 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 2 people said helpful

A Little Goes a Long Way..........
I was hesitant about purchasing Alterna Products as they can be expensive but, honesty well worth it! It's a great product. I use Alterna Caviar w/Seasilk. You only need a pea size amt. of Shampoo and you get a great lather. My hair is past my shoulders. It leaves your hair very shinny, manageable, healthy and has a great smell. I would shop around you can find great deals. I would Highly Recommend this Shampoo! — 2 years, 5 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

Completely changed my hair
This is the most amazing shampoo. It has completely changed the texture of my fine curly hair that is also pretty frizzy. It now has shine, it's smooth, and actually even blow dries straight faster. I don't even need to use my flat iron anymore. The longer I've used it the better it gets. I use it with the caviar moister conditioner and then I use Bumble and Bumble Straightening balm. The line is expensive but worth it and it's also concentrated so you don't use very much. — 2 years, 7 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 2 people said helpful

Great shampoo
This shampoo is moisturizing and safe on color treated hair. This is because there's no sulfates. It also is healthy for your scalp, and doesn't dry it out. I really like the shampoo and conditioner both, they make my hear look healthy and give my curls control. If you aren't getting these results, it's likely that you shampoo too much. It's expensive but worth it! — 3 years, 5 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 1 people said helpful

terribly overpriced
Lovely packaging, I wanted to love this but for my natural curly, thirsty hair, this product seemed to have next to no moisturizing properties whatsoever. Like they were curiously absent. Like someone looked away & forgot to add a crucial ingredient during the manufacturing process. I got a sample of this as a bonus from a major online beauty retailer- it seemed terrific, so I gulped at the price, took a deep breath & reordered- I was very disappointed with the expensive full-size repurchase. As well, the bottle is nice to look at, but topples over in the shower constantly. Just didn't work for me. — 4 years agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 2 people said helpful
