Nars Duo Eyeshadow

This modern compact will be with me if I'm ever stranded on an island. It's expensive, but it feels like silk and stays on almost all day. Prepare to experiment with more than 45 unique, highly pigmented combinations before buying. Matte neutrals make reliable, crease-resistant base colors while iridescents and bolds can be worn sheer or dramatically layered. A plastic sheet protects the mirror inside from mess (but for speed demons, that doesn't last long).

April 28, 2008, 4:48 pm I tried Nars eyeshadow at a friend's house and immediately fell in love with it. It's silky smooth shadows don't irritate my eyes and the colors are fantastic. They have a wide variety that can collaborate with any outfit. When I first found out how expensive it was, it turned me off to the product but I finally went for it and tried it. It sure lives up to it's claims and is expensive simply because it is the best. I recommend this for any occasion. It has light, neutral colors for a casual day or bright, playful ones for a night at the club. I absolutely love this line. April 28, 2008, 4:48 pm

The colors are not very different from each other but they blend to make a very pretty polished eye. The gold shade is a bit misleading--it's a dark gold on me, and the chocolate has a bit of bronze in it. The gold shade is a bit misleading--it's a dark gold on me, and the chocolate has a bit of bronze in it. The first time I tried this, I thought it was too dark on me, but my DD and her friends noticed and "oohed and ahhed" and told me they loved it. That was endorsement enough for me--it's hard to get a compliment from a teenager! Most NARS duos have a matte side and shimmery side, both in this duo they are both shimmery. A real winner! I don't like NARS packaging--hate the rubber! February 24, 2008, 7:55 pm

    NARS Alhambra Eye Shadow Duo.

February 16, 2008, 6:51 am From the NARS Spring Collection Shanghai Lily, the highlight of the collection is definitely the eyeshadow duo in Alhambra. On the left is a beautiful golden champagne shade, while on the right is the most gorgeous metallic rose shade. Both shades are a bit shimmery, with the pink shade shimmering a little bit more. I like using both shades together with the gold shade used all over my eye, and then the pink dabbed right under my brow in the center, and then swept across my lid. I make it a bit darker as I extend it outward, concentrating the darkest power at the outer part of my lid and up into the crease. The end result is pale, soft and shimmery eye - a much needed change from the heavy and darker browns and grays I have been wearing of late. Beautiful! February 16, 2008, 6:51 am

February 2, 2008, 1:58 pm i was so very excited purchasing my first nars eyeshadow (a gorgeous sparkly medium blue paired with a neon-y yellow) unfortunately it was the classic example of lovely to look at & impossible to apply. despite careful repeated applications the color on my eyelids was a far cry from what was in the compact. & for an extra kick in the pants all the glitter was splashed down my face. disappointing. the weird thing is i refuse to throw it out, so there it remains sadly loitering in my makeup bag beside its more popular friends. sorry nars shadow, i REALLY wanted to love you! November 27, 2007, 4:37 pm I have several NARS duos and I love them all differently. I recommend that you try before you buy, because the different shades will complement different eye colors. However, don't automatically reject a seemingly odd color combination. A sheer mint green makes charcoal purple pop, and bright pink blended with bronze can give a holographic effect. Shades range from sheer to surprisingly opaque, so once again, give them a trial run if you can. November 27, 2007, 4:37 pm

November 12, 2007, 12:29 pm It is not often that I am so powerfully swayed by a product that isn’t MAC right from the get go. I tend to need a bit of coaxing, a bit more temptation to defect from my brand loyalty. Of course, I have several beauty products that I consider staples that are outside of MAC’s scope, so it is not an impossible task, but only the best are up to the challenge. NARS is finding a way back into my heart with their Holiday 2007 collection Siren Song, which features this stunning eyeshadow duo in Balthazar (along with Cheyenne and Violetta). I was immediately drawn to the vibrancy of the duo, especially of the tarnished gold. One swipe, and I was in heaven! I am not as in love with the brown (it is more easily duplicated), but it is an excellent partner for the gold shadow. This is just such an awesome combination for the upcoming holiday season, where golds and bronzes often reign supreme. November 12, 2007, 12:29 pm

    A little disappointing

I own a couple of the duos (New Delight being my most recent acquisition) and the colors are beautiful. However, the colors are lacking in pigment and you end up feeling like you have to pile it on to get any to show up. Even with primer under them, I feel like they fade within an hour of putting them on. My best advice is even though these are hard resist, look for something that lasts longer and is a bit cheaper! The Cream Eyeshadow is one of them. Very often, cream shadows can be gloopy and heavy and hard to control. But not this one. It goes on light as a feather, blends beautifully, leaves a nice silky finish..with no gloops in sight. December 2, 2007, 1:42 pm
