Frederic Fekkai Glossing Shampoo

Average member rating of 7.2

Packed with silicone and natural oils like jojoba, olive and sweet almond, this pricey shampoo delivers the goods -- softening, glossing, shining -- for treatment-weary hair. It also can bring dull hair back to life. The one caveat? Results are largely unnoticeable unless you follow the shampoo with the matching glossing conditioner. And the consistency is a gelatinous, which makes it difficult to get out of the container and rinse from hair.

May 1, 2008, 10:08 am I found this shampoo a bit disappointing. After reading many good things about Fekkai products, I invested in a full bottle in hopes of making my fine, straight hair as glossy as possible. No such luck. The product lathered up well, and had a very pleasant smell, but the end results were not what I expected from such a pricey, hyped product! My hair looked the same as usual, (was a little softer, though), and was quite limp. I would even go so far as to say that a few hours later, I felt that my hair appeared oily or something. Not a big fan of this one. Save your money. May 1, 2008, 10:08 am

    Okay so far

For being so expensive, $34 for 16 oz, I thought it would lather better. I probably wouldn't buy it again. February 10, 2008, 1:45 pm

    Great Shampoo

    by Carinp (3 reviews)
I love this shampoo mostly because it doesn't dry out my hair. If you use every day you might end up with a little buildup so about once a week I use something else. I don't really agree with the editors that you have to use the conditioner too. In fact, I don't use any rinse conditioner with this shampoo since it is so rich. I will use a spray leave-in conditioner and then use Fekkai's glossing cream. It keeps my hair soft and moisturized but not heavy. January 24, 2008, 9:01 pm

I made the mistake of using this about 5 days in a row and by the 5th day my head was very, very greasy. However, if you do buy the conditoner you will be wowed by the results- super, super shiny!!!! An OK shampoo

    by carleenp (16 reviews)
This shampoo does a good enough job providing a bit of moisture while it cleanses. The whole set also left my hair looking shiny and soft when dry. But it is high priced and I had to use a decent amount of it, so I didn't find it to be a very good value. The conditioner also was not detangling enough. I would recommend it f... soso shampoo.

I used the shampoo with the matching conditioner. It was very thick like jello. I had a hard time coating all of my hair with it. I usually like a nice lather and this product didn't lather at all. I also had a hard time washing it out of my hair. It left my hair dry and static-y. I would not recommend spending the money on... Smells Great!

    by erks345 (8 reviews)
This shampoo smells great - very clean and refreshing scent. I have extremely thick/wavy hair and I use this on days when I'm going to blow dry my hair straight. I don't think it does much to keep colored hair from fading, but it does keeps hair soft and manageable. November 15, 2007, 11:49 am

    Promotes Shiny Hair

    by who_me (4 reviews)
I received a sample of this shampoo and discovered a winner. I have fine, straight hair and this product made my hair shiny without weighing it down. When it's time to purchase hair products, I plan to buy the shampoo and other products from this line. November 3, 2007, 6:44 am

    Fekkai has much better products.

    by luxylexi (82 reviews)
i didn't notice a big change in shine and it made my thin hair more oily looking. Props on the smell though. I prefer his color technician stuff, i reccomend it even if you don't dye your hair. October 9, 2008, 2:55 pm

Now that I've read the other reviews, it seems that it needs to be paired with the matching conditioner to get it right. I strongly recommend people trying out samples or trial sizes since the results tend to vary greatly. Who wants to plunk down that much money for iffy results? October 9, 2008, 1:30 pm
