We curly people are special. We can't cope with humidity. We can't run into the 7-Eleven after a day at the beach and not scare the clerk. Help can be found in this mid-weight curl-defining lotion, which consolidates smaller curls into smoother, defined sections. As hair dries, a wheat protein/aloe mix contracts to hold curls together, lessening unruly frizz. For styling structure or hold, you'll need to add a product. Ditto for shine enhancement.

Controlled frizz but did not define curls as I'd hoped

After I read the product review in Allure I ran straight to the salon to purchase this product. I have VERY thick, coarse, curly hair. This did help with frizz to a great extent and added shine as well, but I definately did not get the curl definition from it that I'd hoped for. If anything, my curls looked a bit limp. I... don't think it's because I used too much of the product because I used it several times, experimenting with various amounts, and always got the same results. I gave a sample of it to a friend to try and she wasn't delighted either. I won't buy this again. November 29, 2007, 10:12 am

Not so sure about Be Curly

    by dlsellers (5 reviews)
While the smell was fresh and appealing, I felt this product actually made my wavy-to-curly hair more frizzy. And, though this used to be an unusual result with Aveda, I believe this product irritated my skin, making my head itch. Not what I expect from Aveda, for sure. May 24, 2008, 10:16 pm

The product for us curly girls.

    by KimberlyK (3 reviews)
I have naturally curly hair. Not the pretty springy curls, but the thick wavy curls. This stuff makes it easier to love my hair. I have tried EVERYTHING that has been made and I always go back to this product. It takes away frizz, it makes my curls big and thick instead of frizzy, thin, and wispy. With this product I never ...have to use anything else. This is all my hair needs. This is my life saver! I cannot do without this product!! December 11, 2007, 5:58 am

    Not worth it.

Be Curly made my hair feel soft, but it didn't hold my curls together very well at all. Plus, it kept frizzy curls under control for a little while, but seemed to wear off throughout the day. For the price, this is not worth it. February 3, 2008, 7:07 pm

    Just okay!!!

Aveda Be Curly is a good product but it doesn't provide the moisture and definition that my holy grail product does. Also, the smell is overpowering and unfortunately does not decrease throughout the day. I will probably not buy it again. May 20, 2008, 8:43 am

    by Everythinglala (21 reviews)
In the summer, I like to do my hair curly. If I do not use this product, my hair looks like a frizzy mess. I can ONLY do my hair curly with this stuff! Works like charm with controling your curls August 12, 2008, 7:32 am

    LOVE THIS!

    by RFink21 (1 review)
I have curly hair, but being an in-between curly I have a hard time finding products that actually make my hair look great. This works on everything from spiral curls to looser curls like my own. This works at keeping my curls together without weighing it down. Living in a dry climate, my hair is usually volume-free, bu thi...s allows you to work with your hair and climate no matter what they are. November 12, 2007, 6:18 pm

    Not Sticky

    by AndieM (1 review)
I really love this stuff. I put my hair in soft curls and used this after to make fly-aways non-existant. It goes on smooth, a little bit goes a long way, and it lasts a long time. I learned a trick, though. If you want it to stay and hold in your curls and make them a little stiffer, add the confixor and mix together. ... You will get the non-frizz and the staying power that way. August 31, 2008, 7:01 pm

    Go to curl creme!

    by kpbiondo (6 reviews)
This is my go-to curl creme. I have wavy hair that I go back and forth between wearing curly and straight, and this curl creme works better than anything else I have found. It cuts down the frizz in a major way. I think if you use too much it weighs hair down, so be careful not to overdo it. A dime-sized dallop is enoug...h for my thick, shoulder length hair. I have also found that mixing it with a stiffer curl creme will give me a more defined look when that's what iIm going for. August 26, 2008, 2:52 pm
