Maybelline New York Cool Effect Cooling Shadow/Liner Reviews

creases
This is not really recommended if you have oily lids like me, since it creases after a few hours of wear. I don't care much for the cooling effect, especially when the weather is cold. I like to travel with this since it's very portable, I can do the smokey eye effect effortlessly smudging with my finger using the black or the gray shade. After a while, the crayon shrinks and it gets harder to sharpen without breaking off. It could be better, and they need to expand on the shade selection. — 5 years, 1 month agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 4 of 4 people said helpful

Smudges and Smears
It does cool the eye. Good price. Yet it leaves creases on eyelids after a few hours. Lighter colors can double as a lipstick too. The smearing is the worst part, becasue its's too creamy. — 4 years, 1 month agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 2 people said helpful

Good
I really like this product but I do wish this product was a bit better, like I would like it if it did not crease as much, but I think if used in conjunction with a powder shadow, as in after you line your eyes you add a black eye shadow on top, it will help seal in the liner. I wish maybeline would bring this back, it was really a great product, just not the whole smearing part! — 4 months, 2 weeks agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

It's Alright
I got this in the black color and while it is great if you want that extreme, run-way smoky eye look, it does crease and powder doesn't exactly help much. It is kind of hard to sharpen and since the tip wears down quickly the pencil doesn't last a long time. But if you must use a liner/shadow stick, this one is the way to go. — 4 years, 1 month agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 1 people said helpful

Eh
I didn't love this pencil. I was hoping to... and it was kinda neat since it goes on cool, but it's not the best pencil. It smudges, runs, and doesn't last at all. I bought a black one and it did more than crease. It rubbed itself into cruddy little chunks that fell into the rest of my face. yuck. — 1 year, 11 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

Not bad
Kind of creases if you have oily eyelids. Other than that, it goes on creamy and smooth. Nice range of colors too. — 2 years, 6 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

Sort of mooth application--not so smooth smudging.
Although its product name is rather long, the liner has a pretty smooth application, but it pretty much depends. I have a damask-ish colored one which applies easily and Snow Bunny which pulls on my eyelid. Not so nice. I happen to have three of these liners that tug--the damask-colored one doesn't. When you sharpen these pencils (mind you, they're JUMBO sized) you can see that the core (product) doesn't exactly fit into the crevice of the wood, so it may fall out one day.... It actually does feel cooling--like...a cool breeze just hit your (place of application), or the taste of mint ice cream. However it's just on application--it's not going to give you a cool effect when you wipe it off, or smudge it. Speaking of smudging, it only works with the ones that come on smoothly. The ones that come on like a oily sort of look like ... basically, you drew on yourself with oil pastel. It's not pleasant. — 3 years, 6 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

Decent enough.
The shades are shimmery, just the way I like them, with a generous ammount of pigment. Although I do find the product itself rather dry, so the application can be rather uneven and a bit of a challenge. But once you perfect it the look is great. But the part that is most unfortunate is that this product makes my eyes sting. If even a small ammount touches my eyeball, my eye starts to burn and become watery. I have two shades and this happens with both of them, and it's really weird because my eyes are not the least bit sensitive to products. Needless to say, I always have to be careful how I apply this product. — 3 years, 10 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

great colors, but not long lasting
i love these pencils! they wear as liner, or eyeshadow and are pretty idiot proof! the colors are nice and not garish, but you do have to reapply throughout the day. i have a question though: how do you sharpen them? i can't seem to find a sharpener that fits them. bummer. — 4 years agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

Simple & Sparkling
I've been using these shadow/liner pencils for a few years now & they're great. I love that fact that the product is smudge & crease resistant - it really lasts through my monster days! I use them as liners for my upper lids, so it looks more casual than traditional liner, but they've done well when used to add color/definition to the lower lids too. My favorite color is On The Rocks because it matches my eye color, but I've yet to find a shade I dislike & many colors have just the right amount of shimmer in them to make eyes sparkle. — 4 years, 2 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful
