"Soft shimmer" is accurate, but color doesn't "surge." Clinique's Colour Surge Eye Shadow goes on smoothly, feels weightless and has a shimmer factor just one step above matte -- no glitter or high sparkle. The light colors of the 22 shades are somewhat muted, so it's best worn as a base shadow or alone for a subtle finish. There was no creasing at all -- a rarity for my oily lids -- and the color only slightly faded by day's end. Overall, it's a keeper.

    Nothing soft about this shimmer

    by zernelle (130 reviews)

I've tried several different shades of this shadow, and I think it's a bit misnamed. The shadow doesn't seem at all soft to me but rather quite frosty. I prefer matte shadows. On the plus side, this shadow does wear well. Ingredients: Talc, octyldodecyl stearoyl stearate, dimethicone, nylon-12, zinc stearate, octyldode...canol, zeolite, bht, sorbic acid, dehydroacetic acid, methylparaben, butylparaben, isobutylparaben, isopropylparaben. May contain: mica, titanium dioxide, carmine, iron oxides, ferric ferrocyanide, chromium hydroxide green, yellow 5 lake, manganese violet, chromium oxide greens, ultramarines, blue 1 lake, bismuth oxychloride. My favorite eyeshadow!

    by CupcakeCutie (33 reviews)
I use this eyeshadow daily. I have at least 10 different colors. My favorite colors are "lucky penny" and "foxy". Clinique has great eyeshadows that are great for contact lens wearers like me! June 3, 2008, 10:33 am

Depends on the color you choose

Some of these colors are really beautiful and unique (Try strawberry fudge... the pink is gorgeous and comes out gold on some skintones!). I wear this with a base, and it never creases, and it blends very easily. However, some of the colors are really metallic... which can be good, but not what you want if you're looking ...for a subtle look. Overall, it's one of my faves. May 22, 2008, 6:38 pm

    disco pink

not as poppin as you would want or expect a color named 'disco pink'....but nice and frosty and pretty anyway. long lasting, and not irritating. i kinda hate the idea that i paid 14$ for a single shadow that i def wont be wearing alone. May 22, 2008, 7:11 pm

    by deniden (10 reviews)
I wear "Champagne" just about everyday... it's great! Not to shimmery, great base color. November 6, 2009, 8:07 am

    Pretty, But baseless

    by ThePastyHarlot (45 reviews)

Clinique's Colour Surge Shadows are beautiful and certainly of high quality, but if you're looking for something with a high impact punch to it, this isn't for you. The best thing to do is to start with a primer (like one of Clinique's Touch Bases--I like "Canvas") so that the color will actually look truer. It ...goes on smoothly (especially if the skin is moisturized) and will last for a good while if you use a primer/base. All in all, it's a good value if you're into the subtle, every day colors. finally, a pink i am not allergic to!

    by jorgemai (14 reviews)
i am not allergic to clinique's 'pink blossom', and this makes me very happy! it is not too sparkly yet not completely matte. just nice for those of us in our 30's and 40's as it doesn't create crepy-lizzard skin! lol. i have great skin, but i tend to be allergic to most pink and sparkley eyeshadow products which give an ec...ema reaction on my lids... apparently there is no mica in the product and there is no crushed-bug as used in many other pink eyeshadows. gross! lol i also have the 'blue lagoon' and 'green sage' and these are wonderful! they go on smoothly and they last well. definitely worth it. Shimmery, not sparkly

I adore the sophistication level of this eyeshadow! It's not sparkly or glittery, but rather shimmery and the quality is fantastic. May 6, 2009, 8:59 am

Misleading Name But Great Eye Shadow

    by BoutiqueFlair (42 reviews)

I'm a Clinique eye shadow fan. The only thing about this product I don't like is that I think the name is misleading. Not every color "pops," but it does go on smoothly and lost long from my experience. April 19, 2009, 8:28 am

    Nothing soft about this

    by wendysnipes (16 reviews)
I like the eyemake-up but it is far from "soft" looking. It is a little frosty looking and you can't use a whole lot without looking freaky. It does stay on pretty good though. April 10, 2009, 12:44 pm
