Color Me Happy with These!
MAC paint pots are one way to achieve any eye look you want. How much do I love them? My vanity, makeup cases, and cosmetic bags overflow . . . My all-time favorite shade is "Painterly," a pink-toned flesh hue which disguises discolorations, brightens the entire eye area, and serves as a very long-wearing, water-resistant primer. Sometimes I dash out of the house wearing only "Painterly" (and clothing, of course!). Like some of the other readers, I find "Groundwork" very lovely and highly useful. It is a satin-toned taupe. A swipe of "Groundwork" over "Painterly" makes for a good day look. Some of my other favorites? "Let's Skate" (a pearly, dainty pink) serves as a great base for violet-, navy-, brown-, or charcoal-hued shadows while allowing your lid to stand out. "Dangerous Cuvèe" is a frosted, fascinating cool grey which is subtle enough for daytime but sexy and edgy at the same time. "Frozen Violet," a shimmery purple-silver, is also unique and brings out the green in my eyes. "Rubenesque" is an intriguing golden peach with gold pearl, a great color against skin especially during the spring and summer months when you may be sporting a bit of a faux tan. I love the fact that you can use other powder shadows over these if you choose. I tend to use my fingers when working with these colors, but a brush allows me to line and contour easily and enables blending. The price of $18.50 per shadow is high, but you do get a good deal of product. I like the fact that it applies as a cream and I can manipulate it as I want before it dries. It stays put through heat, humidity, and long hours. Just be sure to close the pot securely so that the color doesn't dry out. When you consider that this functions as a primer and a shadow, you realize that it is definitely money well spent! — 3 weeks, 3 days agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

Good as cream shadow or as a base!
I have MAC Paint Pots in Rubenesque (warm shimmer/frosty gold with slight peach tones), Delft (shimmery deep blue/green), and Greenstroke (discontinued, a shimmery silvery light mint green). The texture on these is just great--so incredibly smooth. The colors can be worn sheered out, or built up for more intense color. These are great worn alone, or with powder eyeshadow on top. Worn alone, they still have great length of wear. I can go pretty much a whole workday without creasing, and I have really oily lids. To get even greater length of wear, I like to put some eyeshadow primer underneath the Paint Pot. My favorite way to wear these is with shadow on top—they seem to feel a little sticky without powder to “set” them, and sometimes pick up my eyeliner (I have “hooded” eyelids). Because I end up putting shadow over them, I personally use these more as tinted eye primers than as cream shadows. I don't have any problems blending powder eyeshadow over Paint Pots. The packaging is great—sturdy glass, with a plastic lid. I store mine with the lid on tight, upside down in my makeup drawer, and haven't had any problems with them drying out at all! Not a single paint pot has pulled away from the edges of the glass even a little, and I've owned my three Paint Pots for at least a year and a half. The price is definitely right. You get a LOT of good quality product, and it lasts a long time. Compared to the price of other eyeshadow primers, it's very reasonable. To be honest, I don't use mine that often because I hate sticking my fingers in the pot to apply them. Yes, you can apply them with brushes, but I think fingers are better for application. Overall, I'd say that these are great products, whether you're looking for a cream eyeshadow or an eye primer. — 1 year, 10 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 4 of 5 people said helpful

Versatile Cream Shadow and/or Base
I use some sort of MAC Paint Pot every single day that I wear eye makeup. My favorite Paint Pot is in Painterly because it is so versatile. It is a pale pink flesh color that even looks nice when worn alone. Most days I apply Painterly as an eyeshadow base. This cancels out the blue veins on my eyelids and makes any eyeshadow I wear last all day. It also helps the color of my eyeshadows really pop. I also have Groundwork which is a satin finish taupe brown. This is great for creating a brown smokey eye. I love this color on its own as well. Painterly and Groundwork also look great when blended together for a nice, neutral eye. Bare Study is a golden beige shimmer color that looks great under other shimmery eyeshadows, or even under a matte shadow to give it a bit of shimmer. The versatility of these is amazing. Paint Pots apply as a cream but set as a powder and they really do stay put all day. Before discovering paint pots, I would get so frustrated to find my shadow leaving ugly creases on my eyes before midday. Even now, with so many other shadow primers out there, I always come back to MAC's Paint Pots. Each pot lasts a long time, just be sure to store them upside down (with the product label facing up) so they don't dry out. — 7 months, 3 weeks agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 4 of 4 people said helpful

Great cream shadow/primer
I got painterly which was a light flesh tone. It is a great cream eye shadow that lasts all day, does not irritate the eyes, is much less drying and less expensive than Bobbi Brown's (plus you get a lot more product). It is very pigmented and evened out the color on my lids-brow bone area and also acted as a primer or canvas for other colors. It really makes powder shadows POP! Highly recommeded. — 4 years, 1 month agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 2 of 7 people said helpful

Wonderful!
One of my fave MAC products, I love using these as either a base for other shadows or just using them as creamy eyeshadow themselves. Fave shades are Bare Study, Rubenesque, Indianwood, and Painterly. — 1 year, 9 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 3 of 3 people said helpful

An outstanding primer
I wasn't sure what these were for a while, they seemed too dull to be cream eyeshadows, but they weren't marketed as primers, either. I'm glad I gave these a go under my shadow. Paint pots offer all the benefits of a traditional primer--no creasing, keeps makeup in place, etc.--without the annoying habit of making shadows difficult to blend. With Paint on my lids, I was able to create a beautiful, complex eye look that lasted all day. I'm tossing my Too Faced and Urban Decay primers cause I don't need them anymore! — 2 years, 11 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 4 of 8 people said helpful

Painterly and Groundwork
Great base, creamy, dries fast, and long lasting! Be sure to cap the product quickly after using it because it will dry out pretty easily and be sure not to leave it in the car or in any hot place where it can have direct sunlight. This will dry out the product and make it pasty instead of creamy. Also, you dont need a lot of product because a little goes a long way with this one. It dries fast so be sure to blend it out quickly so you dont get spots of color. Painterly - Nude with a slight pink undertone. Great to use as a base for wedding makeup and as a base for the brow bone. Groundwork - A must have for smoky eyes. Apply all over the lid and then pat on Carbon for an ultra dark smoky eye. — 2 years, 4 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 3 of 6 people said helpful

AMAZING
As a base, as an allover color, as a highlighter, as a liner, you name it, this product can do it! Makes my eyeshadow last all day and all night, when I use it as a base. I have three colors (rubenesque, moss scape, and indianwood), and I think that is all I will ever need. The shimmery, creamy dreamy color and texture makes this the perfect addition to any girls makeup arsenal. I can apply this very quickly and get great results when just using a swipe of my finger to my eyelid, or for more precise application or to build up the color intensity, I could use a brush. Either way, I will never be without my Paint Pots ever again! — 3 years, 7 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 3 of 3 people said helpful

Good Product
I have had a few of these in different colors and used them for quite some time. They are nice and creamy and set for a long wear. You can apply powder shadow over them with no problem. They are called a base I believe but are an actual color. I did end up giving them away though after about 6 months of use. Trying to remember the reason now, think it was because I found another brand that I liked the colors better. It is a great product though. — 1 year, 2 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 2 of 2 people said helpful
