This multitasking, mattifying cream helps fight shine and prime any type of skin for makeup. The formula is surprisingly silky and blends into skin instantly -- without a trace -- leaving your face looking "naturally" matte for hours. It also works as an amazing eye shadow base to prevent the creasing we all normally dread come mid-day.

This product works GREAT to keep my oily face matte ALL DAY. I put it on under my MAC Studio Fix foundation and I rarely have to even blot or powder my nose or chin all day. That's unreal! That's unreal! And I usually don't need any touch ups, even after a 16+ hour day. Although it seems like a small tube, the product lasts for quite a while. You only use a small amount. This is a must-have for anyone with an oily complexion. June 9, 2008, 7:00 pm

      MAC MATTE - disappointing

      by iLOVEmakeup (3 reviews)
I bought this tube hoping to find a cure for my oily skin. I was advised by one of the MUA's that this is really good for oily skin and would aid in keeping my t-zone area matte. That wasn't the case. I found absolutely NO difference using this product. I love MAC, but this product was disappointing. December 1, 2007, 2:34 am

      Not Worth The $

      by wuzzyangel (5 reviews)
Having a very oily T-zone I need something to help out. I bought this on a recommendation from a MAC artist. It SUCKS! It doesn't stop the oil or shine, feels greasy on my face, and causes my mineral makeup to bunch up into little clumps. Total failure. September 10, 2008, 3:14 am

The MUA who did my makeup (which turned out amazing btw) used this as the primer for my face (I have a very oily t-zone and am very very prone to breakouts). The Matte along with MAC Studio Stick foundation and a couple other products and my face was the most flawless and shine-free it had been in next to forever. My friend and I went out clubbing that night, and my face stayed shine-free. I was very impressed. I didn't end up purchasing any of the face stuff then, because I still had primer, mineral foundation etc that I was using. When my primer ran out, i thought, hey why don't I give the MAC Matte a try. So I bought it. It's a lot more slippery than I had thought, which makes me know that it does include a lot of silicone. It does blend very nicely, goes in smoothly and does make my face matte... ...here's the downside... It doesn't stay matte all that long... by noon/1 pm-ish my forehead is a nice sexy oil slick yet again. So I have't yet decided if it was the combo of the Matte plus MAC foundation, blog powder etc that made and kept me matte. I do feel like likely in combo with MAC foundation it would probably yeild better results. We'll see, I am planning on switching to the MAC studio stick ones my Mineral stuff runs out June 11, 2008, 12:42 pm

      • Manufacturer's Product Description

      • A matte-ifying cream that acts like a powder, MAC Matte adds a sheer, no-shine matte texture in one smooth layer. May be used on bare or made-up skin. Use a latex sponge or a 252 Large Shader Brush to apply over the entire face or in the T-zone to reduce the appearance of shine. Apply MAC Matte after moisturizer, but before foundation to prime the skin for makeup. Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation applies smoothly and effortlessly over top of MAC Matte. Apply MAC Matte to eyelids before applying Eye Shadow or Paints to help increase the longevity of the makeup and reduce creasing.
