Editor Review

Rated a 5

The outrageous claims of this product (ability to repair and strengthen hair) are misleading. Isn't this supposed to be a defining paste? While the stuff is water-based with a buttery consistency, it's extremely tricky to use. Heavy application results in the "haven't washed my hair for a week" look. Nice almond scent but the paste fades within a few hours, leaving hair limp. Alterna Hemp Styling Mud is a much better option for long-lasting style.

A Must Have for Fine Hair

    by williams1115 (14 reviews)
I was surprised at the negative reviews for this product. I was given a sample at Sephora and after the initial experimentation to get the perfect amount, I cannot say enough about this stuff. I have fine hair and it gives it direction and takes away the fly-aways. You use such a small amount a little goes a very long way s...o it is a good deal for the money for such a quality product. And the scent is awesome. May 16, 2008, 9:32 pm

    Great product

    by amandaizcool (17 reviews)
I really love this stuff. It is some of my favorite pomade-y stuff. It smells good, has some sparkly things in it and works really well. I have suuuper short hair, and it works really well when I get my haircut. It does make my hair look a little greasy when my hair gets longer, but it doesn't look bad. I like how moldable ...it makes my hair throughout the day as well. March 11, 2008, 12:22 am

Pass if you have heavy hair

I have thick, coarse, healthy long hair that is extrememly "heavy" (i.e., hard to hold volume). If you have hair like mine, this product will only weigh it down. The more I used, the more it fell flat. The less I used, it did virtually nothing. I guess you have to have to have the right texture for this to wor...k??? Maybe it'll work for fine, soft, short hair? February 17, 2008, 1:10 am

    Pretty darn good stuff!

    by KismetRN (8 reviews)
I have straight, baby fine hair..this products definately adds some thickening and styling help...smells fabulous. You must find the right amount for your hair type, length (it seems to work better on short hair) and hairstyle. Warm it in your palms and try it underneath your hair for volume and then on top for seperation ...of a "helmet head". January 26, 2008, 6:31 am

    Works for layered hair

    by want2begreenmom (27 reviews)
I have a very layered, cut into haircut. This works great to give me that funky choppy look that I need. A little goes a long way, but I love how this works. I have a lot of fine hair, so it doesn't make it limp. May 1, 2008, 11:00 am

    not a fan

    by shelley85 (7 reviews)
I did not care for this at all. It made my hair greasy and very hard to manage. Like I hadn't washed it in over a week. One of the worst hair days I had. Now I do have fine thin hair, but someone with thicker hair may have different results. Never buy it again. Just not for me. March 28, 2008, 6:50 am

    Great for frizz

    by lbritos1 (4 reviews)
I've tried a million anti-frizz products, and somehow this one not only tames the frizz but gives my fine, limp hair a boost of body. But be forewarned: a little goes a long way. Use too much and you will, indeed, look as if you haven't washed your hair in days. March 18, 2008, 2:22 pm

    I really like this

    by dmoody1974 (3 reviews)
I have thin hair but a lot of it and it tends to get tangly without some control. I don't get to shampoo every day so I love how I can just put this in my hair for control and definition and I really do get that cool "next day hair" look but more polished March 1, 2008, 2:17 am
