Editor Review

Rated a 6.5

It's not quite the "no more raccoon eyes" advertised, but this oil-free, hypoallergenic cleanser does a fair job of lathering off light makeup and dirt. But heavy-duty jobs, like cleaning oily skin or removing eye makeup, might require a second suds-ing. Like most pump-able products, it conveniently delivers all but the very last squirts of the floral-scented cleanser.

    It's Gentle!

I love this cleanser. I have sensitive skin and it has worked really well for me for years. It's not the best at removing waterproof make-up, but I use a make-up remover with silicone for that. This cleanser makes my face clean, but not irritated. I've experienced some dryness from using this product during the fall and... winter seasons. Dryness of this cleanser can be avoided if you use a good toner after cleansing. I use Jason's Red Elements Calming Toner. Works great if you often experience dryness after cleansing, but don't want to weigh your skin down with a too greasy moisturizer. November 30, 2007, 12:17 pm

I like the new foaming products like my handsoap and my dishwashing liquid , but I found this product a little disappointing. what I did not like was the feeling that there was "residue" on my face. i have tried moisurising cleansers that leave a protective moisturiser behind and tht's Okay. this was a different ...feeling -almost "squeaky' May 27, 2008, 12:27 am

    Could be a little stronger

I have oily/combination skin and wear makeup, and this cleanser is a tad ineffective in terms of taking all the grime and buildup off my face at the end of the day. Sometimes I will wash twice and still find traces of makeup on the cotton ball when I apply toner afterwards. Would recommend this for sensitive/dry skins who d...on't wear a lot of makeup only. You will love this product if you don't wear alot of makeup. It leaves your face feeling so clean and refreshed. Its not that good at removing the makeup but i usually use a makeup remover first then use this product. May 8, 2009, 8:33 pm

    Freshest Face!

    by HopefullyLucky (3 reviews)
I love love love this product. This facial cleanser is the only face wash I am able to use on my face. It is gentle enough that it does not dry out my skin, yet it is strong enough to take off all of my make-up. I know, weird right? I have tried so many different products but this is the only one face wash that washes th...e skin right and effectively. This product is great for combination type skin (oily and dry) and it is cheap too! You'd never think a cheap product would be so great. I feel lucky to have found the product and I sometimes want to keep it a secret from my friends so that I can be the one with the perfect glowing skin. ;) May 8, 2009, 1:18 pm

    Fair, but Not Quite

    by mufasa (22 reviews)
It's not that effective as a makeup remover, and I thought it would depend on how much makeup one cakes on; but I hardly wear much and it still gave me trouble. Just left me with tingling eyes. It does give a fresh feeling as its surface cleaning ability is quite good. I think it depends also on the skin type. I have oily,... acne prone skin, and it never really helped me much, but my sister with normal skin says its great. Hit or miss, I say. April 17, 2009, 4:26 am

After using this facewash for several weeks I started to notice my skin drying out and my nose peeling. It also started to dry my skin out. I switched to another cleanser and the problem was solved. I have been a loyal J&J user, but just can't seem to get into this cleanser. It is not too good at removing makeup eit...her. Finally!

    by SoCalQT8691 (11 reviews)
I Love this cleanser, i have very oily/acne-prone skin, i've tried everything out there and i've always know neutrogena to be a name i trust so i figured i'd give it a go. This Product is so cheap and super affective at removing make-up so i don't have to buy a make-up remover and facial cleanser, Being a dancer and in coll...ege my face is always breaking out but after about 3 weeks my face is almost compeletly clear, and my skin has never felt better.
