Pantene Pro-V Ice Shine Conditioner Reviews

Shine? WHAT Shine?
When I was much younger and drugstore shelves were not overloaded with skin and hair products, it was much easier to know what worked and what didn't. Certain brands always lived up to their claims, and Pantene was one of them. Neutrogena and Vitabath were other companies which were highly respected and always effective (I'm still hooked on these). My hair back then (before coloring it permanently changed my cuticle, leaving it lacking) was strong, luxurious, and so shiny that I was amazed. I wanted to keep it that way, to protect it. So I bought Pantene's basic shampoo and conditioner, very high-brow products at that time, available only at department stores and recommended by my stylist. My parents were a bit shocked at the price but gave me the money I needed nonetheless. Despite the price, the conditioner from days of yore was worth far more than I paid. The old formula worked wonders; my tresses were akin to strands of silk between my fingers, and the conditioner left my hair voluminous and swingy, with even more sheen. I tried "Pro-V Ice Shine" hoping to bring back some of the gleam it used to have (with a degree in marketing, I have to admit that the words "ice shine" brilliantly stayed in my mind and made me purchase it). This product was a huge disappointment. Pantene, what have you done? Have you caved to the demands of commercialism? If this didn't have your name on the bottle, I would never have associated it with the same company. My hair was still rough after washing. Gone was the satiny feel. Shine? WHAT SHINE? I washed it again and used another conditioner because my hair had actually been dried out by this product. A conditioner that dries hair? For shame. I've been hesitant to use Pantene since this unfortunate experience. I hope they revert to their previous, unprecedented wonderful products! In the meanwhile, I have a partially-used bottle for anyone who would like it. — 2 months, 2 weeks agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 3 of 3 people said helpful

Drying
I'm not trying to be a negative nancy, but I didn't really get the shine effect from this. It pretty much just dried out my hair and left it tangly. Then again, I have difficult hair. Either way. I would not try this again. — 2 years, 3 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 3 of 3 people said helpful

It's Ok
It's ok , not very nourshing though. There are other conditioners by Pantene that I like much better so I won't be buying this one again. — 5 months, 3 weeks agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 3 of 3 people said helpful

I like it!
So this new bottle doesn't really show it, but the old bottle was clear and was what made me want to try the conditioner out in the first place. Most other conditioners weren't clear at the time I bought this Pantene Pro-V Ice Shine, and most still aren't today. The conditioner itself didn't seem too different from other Pantene conditioners I've used or from other brands of conditioners in general. One shall lather, rinse, repeat, and the results are generally similar. Be ready for smoother, silkier, beautiful hair as long as you’ve used this conditioner after you have washed your hair with the shampoo. Of course, they’ve probably recommended you to use the shampoo for this product, but I would recommend going ahead and using any shampoo you like or have lying around. The only thing, again that I thought made it cool (haha, see what I did there, "cool" because the conditioner is called "ice shine"... I'm so corny...haha). Anyhow, so what makes it cool is definitely the clearness of the conditioner, I wonder what ingredients in this product makes that happen? By clearness, I mean the entire bottle of product is transparent, see-through, and beautiful! Overall, I don't have any negatives about this conditioner; I don't understand why people complain about the scent, I didn't think it was unpleasant. I suppose it's because it's not as herbal smelling or fruity and sweet like other shampoos may be. But it's really not a bad scent either! Also, people complain that it’s too drying and I don’t think that’s a problem for me either. I suppose that those with fine hair should stay clear of this product and instead use a more hair-sensitive product instead. Otherwise, just use less product of this in general; leave it in shorter, wash it out and viola, beautiful, silky, smooth hair! — 1 year, 1 month agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 4 of 6 people said helpful

Fantastic!
I love the packaging of Pantene's products. You can always get to the very last drop with this design. I never drop the bottle in the shower either which is nice. The formula always leaves my hair feeling smooth and manageable and the scent is just lovely! The Ice Shine is my favorite for straightening my hair. I swear this stuff does actually make it shine a little more!! Definitely cannot beat the quality and price of Pantene when it comes to drugstore brands. — 2 years, 2 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 2 of 2 people said helpful

Love this stuff!!
This is one of the BEST conditioners Pantene has ever come out with. I get the distinct impression it's about to be discontinued, which would suck, but I am committed to stocking up on it if they do. My hair doesn't have a shine problem, it's always very glossy, but this stuff keeps it so soft and smooth. Not to mention, it smells great too. — 1 year, 2 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 2 of 2 people said helpful

Adds shine
A decent drugstore conditioner. Thick, moisturizing, and smells like all Pantene products, so clean. As for shine, I definitely noticed my hair was shinier when I was using this with the corresponding shampoo. When I was using this, part of my hair was dyed and part was grown out virgin hair. I was getting way more shine on my hair that wasn't dyed. I don't know if this would be the case with all dyed hair or it was a result of going blonder so bleaching could be a factor. Just something to keep in mind — 2 years, 1 month agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

not for me.
I used this with the shampoo and my thoughts are the same. It is very drying and nothing special. I use natural products now that improve my hair (fine/natural color). I would not buy this in the future. For around the same price, I can put healthy ingredients into my hair. — 2 years, 4 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 3 of 3 people said helpful

Biased Product, Haha, Somewhat
This product leaves me on a rocking boat so I'm not sure whether I love it or not even after quite a few uses. It does what it a conditioner does by making hair manageable but shine? That's the tricky part. On certain days, I noticed that my hair could be a little more glossier so I believe this product isn't exactly up to my par of what a shine product should accomplish and on other days, I believe that I shouldn't expect much from a conditioner that you do have to rinse out anyway and that the best products to create sheen are the actual styling products. This delivers some radiance to hair if it is already healthy but if your hair is already dried and frizzy, you may find that this product won't do much and that's where I'm iffy about my rating therefore I gave it a five. Because when I had a new fresh color on my mane, this didn't do much but leave it parched but after a couple weeks, this did help me maintain a slight healthier look when my hair's condition was restored somewhat. There's my two cents, so would I repurchase this? Nope, there are better products out in the market that are more consistant no matter what state my hair is in. — 5 years agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 6 of 6 people said helpful
