Taylor Momsen's Makeup: Raccoon Eyes Redeemed

Is the Gossip Girl rocker enough to rock the raccoon eyes look?

Taylor Momsen's Makeup: Raccoon Eyes Redeemed

If the title of her debut album, "Light Me Up" is any indication, fans of the front-girl performer of "The Pretty Reckless" Taylor Momsen might have reason to believe she is quite a fan of the flame. The "Gossip Girl" Momsen garnered headlines after it was reported this month that the 17-year-old had set aflame her dog's neutered testicles, while in her band's studio.

"Taylor loves setting things on fire ... she thinks we're some rock 'n' roll badasses," says bandmate, guitarist Ben Phillips. "One morning, Taylor got into the studio really early – she’d just had her dog neutered and brought in the bits, which she then burned. We were grossed out."

But in light of (no pun intended) Momsen getting busy as a pyro, she's also been making waves with her newly independent (at least since firing her stylist) makeup routine, which involves a "more is more" reapply method—the star was seen masquerading around—some could say literally—with some serious raccoon eyes during her summer Warp Tour with her band.

"My music reflects my style because my style reflects me," says Momsen. "I shower, then I put a ton of black on my eyes, then I put lipstick on and a little bit of blush and I don’t brush my hair…[I use] whatever black eye shadow and liner–that isn’t empty–in my makeup case and charcoal it on."

Yes, liberally applied and a major stretch from her days as Cindy Lou in "How the Grinch Stole Christmas," but the dark charcoal, many might argue, plays a slightly complimenting contrast to her lighter features in an almost Courtney Love makeup tribute.

But while the GG star attempts to reinstate the raccoon eyes look, she is also showing off her face (sans charcoal) for Madonna's and her daughter, Lourdes' new fashion line, "Material Girl" as part of their Spring/Summer 2010 campaign. "It’s very much based on mixing and putting pieces together, which I really like because that’s what I do instead of pre-designed looks," says Momsen, who was styled by Lourdes for the "Material Girl" ad campaign. "She kind of reminded me of my little sister in a way. She was a very sweet girl and she has great fashion sense."

And let's not forget, as Momsen states, "It’s Madonna — she doesn’t really do anything wrong, ever."

If that's the case, would Madonna do raccoon eyes today? What's your take on Taylor's raccoon-esque beauty routine?
