  • I just had to respond to this reader's problem; I totally feel her pain:

  • "I have EXTREMELY oily skin and I'm getting married in two months. I want to wear full-on makeup but as of now I can't because my skin is so oily; it feels like I'm wearing a mask."

  • Oily skin can be a big pain; it's no fun using powder or blotting sheets every hour, believe me. But there are things you can do to fight it (start this a few weeks before your wedding so your skin has time to adjust):

  • • Start by washing your face with a cleanser specifically for oily skin (try Dermalogica mediBac Clearing Skin Wash or Kiehl's Blue Herbal Gel Cleanser). Look for salicylic acid in the ingredients; it helps control oil production.

  • • Stay away from toners with alcohol in them, it can make your skin dry -- and cause it to produce more oil (so not what you're going for, right?).

  • • Before putting makeup on, apply a shine-control gel (find a great one here). This will help manage oil throughout the day.

  • • Instead of wearing a potentially grease-causing liquid foundation, try mineral makeup. It's naturally drying so it's perfect for oily skin. (See which mineral makeup our readers love most here.)

  • • If your skin is still getting shiny during the day, use blotting papers instead of powder to sop up grease. (Powder can get cakey when paired with already-oily skin.)

  • • If you really have tried everything and still have oily skin, get yourself to a dermatologist. Oily skin is often caused by your hormones, so your doctor may be able to prescribe birth control to regulate them, or a prescription acne product to tone down oil.
