  • I go to a pro to get highlights in my naturally mousey blonde hair and always have. I have never trusted myself enough to do color at home. But we recently shot a how-to video on creating highlights in dark hair (much trickier than in light hair) using a box hair color. I was beyond impressed with the results our expert was able to achieve (yes, we used an expert to apply the color while showing all of us at home how to do it -- but he did use a L'Oreal box hair color). You must see the Create Gorgeous Highlights at Home video and if you use any of these suggestions let me know. I'm so tempted to try doing my own highlights now. What do you think? Good idea? Bad? Any tips or suggestions you want to share with me?

      • I am always too scared to highlight my hair myself also! I have really thought about doing it myself lately, but no, I just fork over the money. It is nice to get it done, a lot easier and I know it is going to turn out great!

Good luck to you if you do it yourself!

      • bleaching will spoil your hair

      • I have tried the high lightening the same way as it was shown 2 years back . My hair came out beautifully but later on my bleached hair became so fragile that it got lot of splits. It always looked dull and dry no matter what i tried. So my advise is to try hair high lightening without bleach coz it creates permanent damage.
