How to Pack Your Beauty Products Like a Pro

Tip 7: Prevent leaks

When the air pressure changes in an airplane due to elevation, your beauty products will react. To keep the products in their respective bottles and not all over your suitcase, make sure to release the air from your bottles and quickly close them back up before packing them. Then "tape the tops of your liquid containers to prevent leaking and exploding, and for double protection, recycle old grocery bags and wrap your liquids individually," before packing them away, says Klosky.

I always tend to over-pack; this will make me think first. A bag or carrier with many compartments is definitely an essential!

I find I have gotten so used to travelling by car where I can have numerous bags and shoes etc, that when I recently tried to take a trip by train I had such difficulty paring it down as I alweays take at least 2x what I would need. I ended up purchasing a couple of excellent products one is a toiletry item from LL Bean, worth every penny as the quality is unsurpassed and I went for the deluxe one so I will have no regrets. Investing in proper items is important for your sanity, pocketbook etc as you want to enjoy your time away and protect your items etc. After geat frustration that is my advice!!!!

the thing about the bottels and stuff leaking because of the change in altitude was helpful for me! to many times i got to my destination to find that something mysteriously exploded! haha gotta love traveling :)

I travel alot so most of this advice I was already aware of. I am so happy that I was doing everything right! A trick I learned from a friend, if you want to keep things from spilling, take the top off and wrap some Glad Press 'n Seal over the opening of the bottle, jar, etc., and put the cap back on. NO spilling!

It's always a good idea to put liquid items in ziploc baggies. I had a hairgel leak in my suitcase once, and it was a terrible mess. I had to throw the suitcase away.

I use ziplock bags to pack my shampoo, conditioner, moisturizer, etc. If it wears out, I throw it away and get a new one! They also take up less space than a make up bag or toiletry case because you can push all the air out before you zip it!

If you use a special sunscreen for your face which is hard to find in most stores, use one of those little travel bottles to take just the right amount. I have had sunscreen bottle blow-outs in my luggage and they are not pretty -- on the other hand, as a fair redhead, I can't afford to be without my 45+SPF!!!
