This is really informative. I think it's too general though. I'm in my early thirties and I still have combination skin. Not everyone in their 20s, 30s, so on will have the same skin types!

Good advice! I recently changed my cleanser, thinking it would be better, and it went terribly wrong! Instead of getting rid of the unusual breakouts that had started to happen, I broke out worse AND my skin is bone dry around my nose and the corners of my mouth, leaving it feeling oily by midday. I need DESPERATELY to get it back to normal!

Informative but I am in my 20s and have tried almost every over the counter regimen out there with poor results. I've already started using the higher end products to have better skin.. preparing myself for a lifetime of higher priced products but knowing they work well is a fair trade off, I guess.

I never had any problems with vaseline! Actually I always hear women saying that they are super satisfied with using it....I have no idea what @Bonstrow is talking about but I will try to gather some info about it. Just to say that finally,finally I do not feel like a weirdo because I do not like using night creams. Are you kidding about Vaseline?!!! I wouldnt put petroleum (or any of their related products like petrolatum) on ANY part of my body !! Vaseline is a cheap filler used in many cosmetics (even the very expensive lines)... it is a by-product of the oil refining process (as in gasoline or home heating oil). Its also a very large molecule which may indeed "seal in moisture".... but it also doesn't let your skin breathe or toxins escape, plus its blocking properties do not allow other beneficial ingredients such as antioxidants, hydroxy acids, retinol, hyaluronic acid or peptides to penetrate into your skin. i would suggest everyone to look for the ingredient petroleum in any of their skin products & avoid them. There are other skin care lines that do NOT use such toxic ingredients & thus are pure, safe & beneficial for you & the environment. Look for them they are out there & with reasonable prices !!!

In my 20s I used a lot of anti aging products layering them one over another. Now I'm in my 30's I use a lot less products now and am less paranoid about aging. I have come to accept it. Skin does get drier as you get older. I used to love gel cleansers. Now I use a cleansing water and hydrating toner and it has really made a difference in my skin looking smooth and polished. For a while my skin was really dry and flakey all the time and I would exfoliate every day to rid the dead cell build-up which would dry out my skin more and I couldn't figure how to normalize my skin. By switching from gel cleanser to cleansing water and adding a hydrating toner I now only exfoliate every 10 days and I don't get the daily dead cell build-up anymore.

i MEANT TO SAY RETINOIDS. SORRY ABOUT MISSPELLING. Don't ever use Albolene as a moisturizer. I did, and I ended up with terrible breakouts from the grease - and I am 62 and have not had breakouts in years! Albolene is only good for removing eyemakeup with a cotton pad or ball. Eye lids can use all the moisturizing they can get. I have also used Albolene and Vaseline for undereye moisturizing. Just DON'T use it on your face, or you're asking for trouble.

I have done a lot of research and found out that sunscreen is so important, even on an overcast day. Further, the best way to fight wrinkles is a product containing retoids, but it should be only at night because it fades during the day. I have also discovered that facial products made by O'Occitane are the best. They are not too pricey. (about $40 for day cream and $60.00 for a moisture mask for about $60. The very first time I used the sample, I saw and felt a difference the very next day! I applied it at night, and when I awoke in the am, I discovered I had radiant soft skin with diminishmwnt of wrinkles. With just one sample I already saw results. Needless to say, I went the next day to purchase the product. I live in the desert, and moisturing is extremely necessary. I believe I have finally found my miracle.

Well I guess my theory of "preventative measures" was wrong!! I use Olay Skin Tightening Serum at night and their Regenerist Anti-Age Defense Detoxifying Gentle Pore Exfoliator!!! I'm only 28 but I thought that if I used the Anti-Aging and Wrinkle Reducing products NOW it would help my face/skin in the future. Guess not....I honestly do recommend the tightening serum I mentioned. It says to apply it at night before your moisturizer (like it said in this article) and not for nothing, I see a difference in my skin!! I also have my mom using it so we can see if it really works (since she is 50) and after 2 weeks of using it, her skin is really looking great!! I think all women should try it!! But, it is a little pricey ($47.99 at CVS) but I think it's worth the investment. Thanks TB for clueing me in on what I should be doing to take care of my skin!!!

I like the basic information in each age category but I'll be 60 and agree with Donna48: expand your horizons, ladies! The "sixties" are not considered golden years by any means. I use Glytone Alfa-Hydroxy Acid products; a little goes a long way and you can get them thru your dermatologist or at online stores. AHA's are all about exfoliation and glow . . . ALSO, I have just started with PurMinerals as Bare Minerals never looked right on me. I love their split-color foundation: $25.50. A little goes a long way and my skin looks great!
