What she thought: "I have always been a drugstore gal when it comes to buying mascaras. It's just one of those products, in my opinion, that is capable of being awesome despite its price tag (unlike foundations). With that said, after trying this one from Clinique I might have to vary up my buying routine. Basically, I really like it. The wand is super thin with little curved 'teeth' which enable me to coat every single lash. It defined my lashes without being over the top, which makes it the perfect day/work mascara. It lasts all day and was easy to remove (I hate using eye makeup remover so this is a mandatory feature). The only foreseeable problem with this is, for some, maneuvering the unique curved wand on lower lashes will be tricky. Take your time while doing it."

My new fav is rimmell flex. it is black w/ green writing. I like my lashes thick. Believe it or not used wet n wild lengthening and worked pretty well.

I LOVE Covergirl mascara with the curved brush. I also don't care for black and always use brown. Black seems so harsh. I don't care for their foundation but adore the mascara!

i own almost all of these, they work very well, to get very long lashes first use a lengthening mascara and then a thickening one

Wet n wild mascaras are well priced and work amazingly. The Too Faced Lasgasm is so excellent, and another great mascara is Diorshow. The BEST mascara ever is Lancome Definicils though. I will forever love itt!

I'm not thrilled with L'oreal's Million Lashes. Fancy packaging and very mediocre product. L'oreal usually makes great mascaras but this one is a daytime mascara, it adds neither length nor volume.

I love The Falsies! And I know a lot of people aren't particularly fond of The Falsies Flared, but I really love that too! The brush is fantastic. The formula could use a little work, but I love the way it separates and makes my lashes look so full!

When it comes to mascara, I say it's Dior or don't bother!! Maybeline? Wet n Wild? Girl please!!!!!! I am a mascara-freak/expert. There are only a couple that are AWESOME & they are Givenchy phenom-eyes effet, Dior Extase, and Dior Black out, or dior iconic if you want something less dramatic. If you want fab mascara, I'm sorry, but you are not going to find it in the wal-mart make-up aisle. I know, I tried and tried and tired. I love Too Faced, Urban Decay, MAC and tons more BEAUTIFUL make-up brands, but I won't bother with their mascaras...they are nothing compared to the ones above. If you REALLY need cheaper mascara, L'oreal Voluminous is the only thing that comes close to meeting my expectations, but it is not phenom eyes or Dior by any means.

love this mascara, use it with Maybelline Falsies to separate my lashes and finish it off with this to give me the WOW effect! I found that putting mascara on both sides of your lashes is what gives me the WOW effect, just make sure to let it dry a bit before doing each side otherwise you will end up with clumpy lashes.

I was rather satisfied with Maybelline Colossal mascara,Falsies mascara once I went out to buy but the brush seemed odd to me...maybe I will give it a second look. Also L'Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes mascara seems really good. I have to say that Clinique High Lengths Mascara seems ridiculous! I cannot imagine using it,the wand is silly and I cannot see how it would improve my lashes...And there is a Rimmel mascara,very cheap but VERY good! Rimmel Extra Super Lash mascara,curved one,is just the greatest thing I ever bought and I cannot even believe how it is low priced! Always would recommend it to absolutely everyone!:)

Tried Maybelline Volum' Express and was so dissapointed. Clinique Length is my favorite, otc is Loreal Water proof Volume' in cabon black. It's easy to take off with mascara remover but soap & water won't cut it.

The Wet 'n' Wild mascara was too goopy and didn't look good at all on my lashes. The Clinique one took too much work to get it to look decent-- you have to wipe almost all of the mascara off the brush, and use a lash comb to get good results! I'm kind of surprised by what mascaras made the list.

I liked this article. I love Falsies mascara and get tons of compliments when I use it. I've also loved using Cover Girl Lash Syliste and Maybelline Lash Stiletto Voluptuous and Ultimate Length. These mascaras work wonders for me and a few other people I know. And they don't break the bank which is something we all can appreciate these days!! Thanks for giving me some new ones I can try out that were mentioned in this article....

Without knowing the type of eyelashes the raters had or were looking for, and especially not knowing what makes something an 8 for 1 person and a 9 or 7 for another, its hard to know what to think about the ratings. The comments were much more useful.

I dont like to get to attached to department store makeup, because if you are on a trip and forget it now you have the problem of finding someplace that has it. I rather buy a drugstore brand every few months.

Drugstore mascaras are terrible. Fork over more cash for a really good brand because drugstore mascaras last 2-4 months where department store mascaras can last between 3-10 months.

Mascara is so objective. For every girl that loves a mascara, there is another one who can't stand it. It's important to identify what you want out of a mascara and to search for a product based on that. Checking out the blogs is a great start. You have to come to terms with the fact that NO mascara on God's green earth provides the EXACT amount of volumizing,lengthening,thickening in just the perfect texture and color with the right amount of wear. People are darn tough on their mascaras!! LO. Personally, I like Dior Show for higher end and Revlon Lash Fantasy for drug store. I have naturally long and thick eyelashes but I am a natural dark blonde and like my lashes to look super dark and thick so these are my go to selections.

I'm so gIad my favorite made the list. The Maybelline line is the best in mascaras for me especially the Volume Express Falsies. I see it got a rating of 9. I love this mascara and would have even given it a 10 myself. The price is so reasonable too especially when compared to many others-only $5.95! Best mascara out there.

L'Oreal sucks! What are you talking about?! This mascara is the worse: it clumps so bad. The very worse part, this mascara took my lashes out. I have never seen anything like it. I threw it out immediately. Stick to the new Rimmel or Maybelline falsies.

I think it's funny that one person absolutely loves one mascara and another person hates it. I guess your type of eyelashes makes all the difference. straight, curved, sparse, heavy, thick, thin, light, dark -- if people would mention their type it might be helpful to others. Myself I have been blessed with long, thick, dark, curved lashes. I recently splurged on YSL mascara and was SO disappointed! I should have stuck with the Bare Minerals Flawless Definition with its thin, rubbery tip that seems to work best for me. Before the YSL I tried Cover Girl Last Blash Length because it had a similar rubber applicator to the Bare Minerals, but it just didn't work for me. Urban Decay Skyscraper mascara and Lancome Defincils are also pretty good. It's been a long time since I've used Clinique but seem to remember liking their mascara at the time so I might try the High Lengths mentioned in this article. Oh, if you like big fat bristly brushes, Smashbox Lash DNA is for you!

I'vev read the article and the comments. My biggest problem is smudging. I have the eye lashes that when I smile, they hit my cheeks. Anyone know of a good mascara that will not smudge or smear until I take it off? And I don't care if I have to use make-up remover to get it off.

I am very glad one of my favorites made the list! Falsies by maybelline is awsome! If you still haven't found your perfect mascara you really should try Falsies Volume Express Purple tube you will absolutely love it

hmmm I've tried out a few of these mascaras and I can think of 2 right off the top of my head that are much better than any of these listed. Cover Girl Lash Blast and Makeup For Ever Smokey Lash are both amazing and should be at the top of any mascara list!

i'm suree that most of these mascaras are wonderful but not everyone wants to spend $23 on it i wuld personally love to see some drugstore brands so ill soon be trying the L'Oreal one...

Lancome Definicils waterproof brown is the Best !!!! I have used it for years. Keep trying different brands and never find anything that I like as well !!!

Glad to see my favorite makeup brand (Estee Lauder) made the list! I have used all of their mascaras and they never disappoint. I always get so many compliments on my lashes. My nail technician still insists that my lashes are "falsies". Estee Lauder products are the best!

Too Faced Lash Injection, $19.50 - is not worth it! this mascara will sting your eyes, don't buy it. I tried it and it does nothing for your eyelashes except make them look like crap

I have very sensitive eyes and wear contacts so I have to natural mascara. The best I have found is 100% Pure mascara.

I have very blue eyes that get comments from most everyone I m eet. I use Mary Kay products. Browns and black mascara. Their eye liner is the BEST. Lasts dusk to dawn with no touch up.

I love Maybelline XXL it goes on nice with the big bristley brush, and stays put. It doesn't flake and it doesn't come off until you take it off. I have long lashes, and have been accused of wearing fake lashes at work. Love it. beargrad

I have tried them all...my favorite is Dior Show mascara in black. it is a little pricey, however, it last a long time, keep lid tight. This stuff makes your lashes super long/super thick. Again, price shouldn't be an issue, you would buy 3-4 mascaras to try, and throw them in a drawer..you won't this...its worth it. trust me, i am a make up junkie, and only use what works. Also, sephora mascara is the bomb as well... but the diorshow is the best ever. I am 49 yrs old, and have been in modeling/fashion forever..this stuff works.

i really love the revlon double twist mascara. be warned that it looks like it will go on clumpy, but it doesn't. it goes on really nice.

The mascara that I love the best is Arbonne. It stays on very well and doesn't cake, break your lashes or dry them out. I LOVE it!!

I love the Loreal Telescopic mascara's. I have fairly light, although long enough, lashes and need the color and extension. I RAVE over Maybeline's Expert Eyes for makeup removal or smudge clean up. I wear contacts and it doesn't burn my eyes. The regular is liquid but the one for waterproof is oily and I have to be careful not to get it in my eyes or it will blurr my contacts.

i love this mascara, it's absolutely useful for quick makeup mornings, i only take it off by rinsing my face with soap and water and it completely comes off... and whenever i cant take my makeup off when going to bed, i can wake up and wear the same previous' day application for the next day! 'cause it wont smudge or flake or anything, though i wouldn't do it, not hygienic haha. its great, not expensive, lasts a lot and i least i dont have to use a curler, the mascara would do it on its own!!
