The best thing I have used to smooth my hair is Yume Blush, it's natural and has such amazing ingredients. I don't think it was made specifically for hair...it's flavored, tastes yummy and I use it everywhere! Just go natural when it comes to ingredients you can't usually go wrong.. Love theTIGI hair straightener too!!

The Cocoa Keratin System is the best I've used so far and it doesn't damage hair at all, it even comes with its own pre and post shampoo + conditioner. Very complete and it lasts for 5 months :)

The best i've used for straightening my hair has been the Karmin G3 Salon Pro Styling Iron, makes my hair nice and shiny!

My all time favorite products are: Iso Tamer Foam for straightening and L'anza Healing Smooth Thermal Defense. The last product can be used for both straightening and curling. If I curl my hair I spray the L'anza on my dry hair and then curl with an iron. My curls will last for days. The other day it was extremely windy and I was absolutely amazed my curls held up through the trauma. I won't buy anything else but these two products!!

very useful information, thanks :) and about the flat iron, of course your gonna burn your hair and get a lot of frizz and static-y if you get a cheap flat iron. I use a professional one for better results, it's the Karmin Professional Titanium Flat Iron, and it works pretty good, removes static and leaves my hair silky and shiny, I bought it at my hair styling tools. :)

thnx for the info, it's really useful, but I really luv my flat iron to straighten my hair, I use the Karmin G3 Salon Pro which causes less damage to my hair and keeps it soft, shiny and very straight. :D

Okay, all these shampoos are an obvious duhhh---shampoos don't make your hair straight. Buy shampoo to clean your hair and smell good, the rest is up to conditioners, treatments, and irons.

The only thing I've tried here is the Conair Shiny styles back in middle school and it was freaking awful. I've never tried any of the other products and I won't now, thanks for the info.

I've tried that L'Oreal Studio Line Smoothness Glossing Cream! I wouldn't really say it's a straightening product (it says GLOSSING CREAM)--it's like a cheaper version of Frederic Fekkai's olive oil glossing cream. Not bad stuff, but not mind blowing.

I didnt really understand some of the comments that went along with the products because some said it was greasy others say it was drying.. I think they should mention what type of hair is best for what because I think it makes quite a difference right?

I find it pretty disappointing that the only "successful" styles you approve for African American hair were those in which the woman's hair was chemically straigtened. As someone who wears her naturaly kinky hair twisted in locs and as someone who knows several women with beautiful natural kinky and curly afros, I feel that you guys need to expand your horizons a bit.
