Maybe you're sore from hitting the gym like a maniac. Or perhaps you're dealing with chronic pain you can't seem to shake. Here are 7 simple stretches that'll put an end to your aches and pains so that you can start the New Year feeling great
Every New Year's Day, I have a surge of motivation to get fit. And in the first week of January, I typically start a gym membership, eat at least one salad a day, and pick up my pace on the treadmill so much that I look like I'm running from an angry pitbull.
"Just … one … more … mile …" was my last thought before collapsing on the sweat-soaked gym floor. And, you guessed it, I've been sore ever since. To help heal my aching muscles, I laid off the death-mill and sat down with Kimberly Fowler, owner of YAS Fitness Centers and author of "The No Om Zone."
I asked her what I could do to help my body work out its kinks and still meet my "get fit" goal. She created this mini yoga series that is perfect for both the spontaneous (and hurting) gym rats and those who struggle with chronic backaches and pains.
The best part is, you don't need a gym membership, snazzy Lululemon pants, or even a yoga mat. For these stretches, all you need is your body, the floor, and this handy guide. Plus, all these moves combined will take you less than 10 minutes to complete, so they're perfect to add to your morning routine. Looks like it's time to stop pressing the snooze button and start kicking off my days with these 7 pain-reducing stretches.
These are really good stretches I've always done in gymnastics and martial arts, but as for ditching your aches and pains...well...not so much speaking for my personal training days, but it will help in lessening your body from becoming too stiff and helps in creating a more lean look and looking more toned especially doing them before, during and after weight training days.
Wow I love this stretching ideas. This well help my lower back and my achy pains I have as well. Thanks for the info, this is my first time here and so far I like this web site.
I'm gonn have to try these! Though I sit in child's pose at night time because I have chronic back pain that I can't shake. It stretches out my back and butt.
The stretches look great, not too hard or intense to put me off but a really great way to get me motivated on something so simple! Definitely going to try this!
These stretching techniques really do help ! Also drinking plenty of water, eating well, getting proper rest, and as mentioned relaxing as you stretch !
I'm doing almost all of these daily. Though i'm not doing it as per the article one by one, I'm glad to see them all. Will try to follow it up step by step..
if it means setting me up for the day I could set the alarm a few minutes earlier! And I like the way some of these help with tense backs and shoulders, from working in the office all day mine do be in knots! Thanks for the article!
These are very basic so I feel like it would be easy for anyone to follow and add to their morning routines. We do a lot of these stretches before we dance and they feel wonderful.
