Vitamin EAnti-aging benefits:
Vitamin E acts as a cell membrane protectant -- it guards what comes in and what goes out of the skin. When combined with Vitamin C, it protects against UV damage.
Where it's found:
Wheat germ (can be added to protein shakes, oatmeal, bread crumbs, muffins, yogurt)
Nuts and seeds (like sunflower seeds, peanuts, almonds)
Avocados
How much you need:
Eat one tbsp of wheat germ; two avocado slices; or a small handful of nuts
I can't underestimate the importance of water in your diet; many dermatologists say that you should be drinking the number of ounces equal to half of your body weight. Shocked? I was. But I've greatly increased my water intake. My skin looks far better and I'm losing weight without trying!
These are great tips. I already drink plenty of green tea and eat almonds, fruits and veggies and I can see a difference in my complexion when I don't consume these as often as I should.
Total Beauty inspired me to eat healthy. I've been trying to do so for about a month and I love it! I feel much better, especially mentally since I know I'm doing something good for myself. After some time, choosing healthy food becomes natural and I actually find fast foods repulsive! I still can't give up chocolate though. But well, nobody's perfect :)
Getting started in Nutrition can be daunting .. so much, too much, where to start. Maybe beginning with Beauty will open the story of good nutrition, good fuel, making you feel good and look good. This is a nice little primer ... easy, quick, finishing with a tasty smoothy.
I love that the names of the foods are listed so your not popping 17 pills every day. I was happy to see that I eat at least ONE item in each category almost regularly.
I like to have Toast with Olive Oil in the morning to get my daily dose of Vitamin E...I also use Argan Oil, I picked up at Whole Foods, topically that has more vitamin E than Olive oil on my skin, and it absorbs better!
Totally true tips! I also eat a 1/2 cup of blue berries with whole oats every day. Switching from white bread, and white pasta to whole wheat, is easy and sooo good for you- and tasty too! Great w/mac and cheese (use low fat cheese) and spaghetti w/ marinara.
I Loved this article it has a lot of great information on the different foods that you need to eat. That have a lot of vitamins in them to help you look younger.
The title is bogus. Water, omega 3 fatty acids, selenium, and polyphenols are not vitamins. These may be important nutrients, but vitamins they are not.
