If you couldn't resist picking your pimple or it's just a big one, use a cotton ball to apply a bit of astringent. The drying ingredients in the astringent will help soak up the moisturizer and if it's really bad just repeat until it's all dried out. You probably heard about that old beauty pageant secret of using Visine to take the red out of your blemish, but believe it or not it actually does work. All you have to do is use your finger to tap a drop over the bump and the blood vessel in there will shrink. The effect will only last a few hours so do this right before you go out.
Now it's time to conceal with makeup. You'll get a better result if you apply your concealer before your foundation. You want to use one that actually matches your skin tone. Going one shade lighter will actually highlight your blemish -- save that product for dark circles.
Now the tricks to concealing. To prevent bacteria from contaminating your makeup sponges or brushes and causing addition breakouts on other area of your face, use a Q-Tip to apply directly to the head the product. Just use the cotton top to dot it on right on the head of the blemish. Then use a stippling motion dotting repeatedly to blend around the bump. Now before you apply the foundation, you want to set the concealer with powder so the foundation won't simply rub the concealer off. Just take the corner of a makeup sponge and dip in your face powder. Gently roll the powder over the bump. Now you can apply your foundation and finish your makeup as usual.
AMAZING bye bye red spots!!

EXCELLENT video, especially about using Q-tips to prevent contamination and setting concealer by "rolling" powder over it. What bout using a yellow- or green-based concealer to mask the redness of the blemish? It's extremely helpful!

Great tips! I've used visine to hide the redness from a pimple before and it does seem to work.
