John Frieda Brilliant Brunette Shine Release Moisturizing Shampoo with Light Enhancers

This creamy shampoo smells like chocolate thanks to cocoa bean extract, and it lathers and rinses easily. However, its benefits fall short of spectacular. It claims to enhance shine, brighten color and moisturize, but there wasn't a truly noticeable difference between this and my usual Pantene Sheer Volume Shampoo. I may still use the John Frieda just for the mouth-watering smell, though -- it's that good.

    John Frieda shampoo

Prior to using it, my hair was limp and no body and I had a lot of hair loss, both in the tub and on my brush. After using it for several weeks I noticed a great change. My hair seemed thicker and had more body and it had the shine they claimed. But the greatest result was texture of my hair, just a few strands of hair in the tub and on the brush - honest. I love it and use it all the time. May 4, 2008, 3:50 pm

February 15, 2008, 2:34 pm I don't have coloured brunette hair so I can't comment on whether or not it makes colour last longer... however I love the product for my regular light brown hair. It leaves it shiny and manageable. The relatively high price means I don't buy it as often as I would like (generally only when it's on sale!), and I find that you need a fair amount to make a good lather if you have long hair like mine. But I love the smella nd the way my hair feels afterwards. Definitely recommended. February 15, 2008, 2:34 pm

November 12, 2007, 4:27 pm For the price of this shampoo, and the advertising from TV, I expected to be blown out of this world by this shampoo. In reality, I saw very little difference between other moisturizing shampoos. I have actually found better results in a less expensive brand of moisturizing shampoo. As for the 'color enhancements' promised specifically for your shade of hair, the truth is I couldn't tell, and no one else could either. November 12, 2007, 4:27 pm

    no change

    by Lindagalegreen (10 reviews)
I have had other lesser priced shampoos give me the same results. I did have shine and softness. However, there was no extra color brilliance noted. As with other shampoos the length of time of shine was approximately the same. I doubt if I will buy it in the future. May 20, 2008, 11:32 am

    Surprised it works for anyone

    by Ernestine14 (137 reviews)
This shampoo did nothing for me. My hair felt rough and dull after using it. The ingredients on the one I tried had crushed pearl in it. Pearls are smooth and shiny when taken out of the oyster, but have rough edges which can make microcuts in the hair, thus weakening it. May 3, 2008, 8:44 pm

    not bad

    by pentzcp (25 reviews)
The shampoo wasn't bad the only problem I complained about was the shampoo would leak out of the bottle. I was wasting half my shampoo so I stopped buying it. If they would make it in a normal bottle I would purchase it again. April 29, 2008, 8:31 am

    great for the price

    by arparker23 (24 reviews)
I noticed a huge difference in the color of my hair depending on which version I used. It made my hair soft and shiny. I liked it a lot better than the Pantene version in every way. This is a really great product for the price. April 24, 2008, 6:27 pm

    I LOVE IT!!!!!!

    by Holly_Bird (2 reviews)
I use the conditioner & glaze as well. It does work & never had as many compliments on my hair before. I do have baby fine hair so 1-2 times a week I have to use another shampoo & conditioner, but this is a must for my hair type. March 3, 2008, 12:20 pm

    color enhancing

    by mamacita11 (233 reviews)
if you color treat it is recommended to use something like this once a week to keep it vibrant looking. I think that this works well as a shampoo, the color part is tricky. It is efficient however because you get the enhancers as you wash. February 2, 2008, 6:51 pm

    butterrum heaven

    by yupe_carm (7 reviews)
The best thing about this shampoo is the aroma that radiates off your tresses, smells like rich butter-toffee and is soft as butter too, I highly recommend, though the price of 6.00 a bottle is a bit on the steep side I still shell out the bucks for it. December 11, 2007, 11:17 pm
