Estee Lauder Pure Color EyeShadow Reviews

Lovely, but Uneven Pigmentation
I've already established that I am addicted to eyeshadow palettes. There are few companies whose palettes I haven't used; Estèe Lauder remains among the leaders in quality of classic cosmetics, skin/body care, and fragrances. I have purchased several of Lauder's "Pure Color" palettes and have a "lukewarm" love affair with them. The color range is absolutely fabulous--everything from neutral, natural, barely-there shades like "Ivory Slipper," "Sandbar Beige," and "Riviera Rose" to show-stoppers like "Lavish Mink," "Noctural Blue," and "Emerald Star." In theory, they should be sheer perfection. They are silky and long-lasting. They are from Lauder. They are available in both matter and very wearable shimmer formulas. But I have a problem with different pigmentation with various hues. Some colors are so buttery that they practically apply themselves and blend seamlessly. With others, I find myself using my best eye shadow brushes and still not obtaining the amount of pigment I want. This is a shame, because I should be able to create a plethora of various looks blending the colors in my palettes. However, I too often find that I use Lauder shadows in combination with other brands to get a smoky eye or even a good neutral eye look. They have such potential; I just can't understand why Estèe Lauder doesn't ensure that every shadow is equally pigmented, especially when they are named "Pure Color." — 3 weeks agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

Very nice for natural looks
This is very nice lasting shadow that is pigmented and great for natural, classic looks. It does not irritate sensitive skin, wear off, or crease. The colors are very easy to apply and blend. It is a bit expensive and have tiny applicators that are awkward to use. I have "Riviera Rose" which reads as a mostly flesh color with a slight hint of pink. It has a soft shimmer to it which makes it great as a highlighter. — 1 year, 8 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 2 people said helpful

Too many matte shades
These shadows are not highly pigmented, and doesn't blend that easily. Feels and looks too powdery, probably because the most of the shades are too matte. None of the shades have high shimmer, which is annoying. This creased at the end of the day, so I need to use a primer for sure. It's worse than a drugstore quality for such high price. — 1 year, 10 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 1 people said helpful

Poorly pigmented
I have this shadow in Peach. While the color brightens up my eyes, it takes about three layers to even show up on my fair skin. The sponge applicator this shadow comes with is too tiny for all but the smallest hands, but overall I like the sleek, crystal package. I also like that this shadow wears all day without creasing or migrating. — 1 year, 10 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 2 of 2 people said helpful

Have a bunch of these shadows in a palette and I love them!
Estee Lauder shadows come in beautiful colors that go on relatively smoothly and have good color payoff. A little goes a long way! Some of my colors take a little extra time to apply because they don't blend as easily as other brands. But that is my only complaint. Once the color is there, it stays all day. I always use a primer on my eyes so I know that contributes to the staying power, but these shadows are very good quality. I would give it 10 stars if it blended a little better, and the price was lower. — 1 year, 10 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 1 people said helpful

Very Pretty Shadow
I have this in Mocha Cup and I really think this shadow is a classic! It's not too shimmery and not too matte. I apply it in AM with a brush because the sponge applicator is way too small to use unless in a pinch. The color lasts pretty much all day without reapplying. If you want more pop you can just apply more. — 1 year, 10 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 3 of 3 people said helpful

Pure Color
I have always liked the darker shades of this line. They deposit good amounts of color well and I find they blend better than most eyeshadows. The lighter colors sometimes don't deposit as well and the shimmer of some can be too distracting, but all in all I find these eyeshadows to be of really great quality. — 6 months, 2 weeks agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 2 of 2 people said helpful

My Favorite Eye Shadow
Estee Lauder Pure Color is my favorite eye shadow of all time, and I have tried a lot of shadows over the years! This shadow goes on smoothly and lasts all day--the colors are great, not garish like some brands; and the shimmer is subtle, not sparkly. I particularly love the Mocha Cup; I use it as eyeliner, as well as on the outer third of my lids on up into the crease, over a neutral shade (I loved Champagne Bubble, which has been discontinued) like Tea Biscuit or Honey Drop. IMO, these shadows are a good value for the money; they last a long time and look great down to the last smidgen in the container--I should know, I have been nursing along a sample size of Champagne Bubble for several years. — 1 year, 10 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 1 people said helpful
