My husband and I like to light candles. We generally have candles burning everywhere, even during the day. We like the subtle glow and scents. Our grown nephew--a Yankee Candle fanatic--purchased "A Midsummer's Night®" for us. It is a heady, intoxicating fragrance, an incredible blend of musk, patchouli, sage, and mahogany. The price, $24.99 for a medium-sized candle, may seem a bit stiff, but it gives sixty-five to ninety hours of delight. We sit and sip a glass of wine around it in the winter; in the summer, it travels to our deck as we sit at the stars and stare. Smells like man
This scent is very heady and masculine. To me, it smells like a men’s cologne, with a strong undertone of spice. When I first smelled this candle I thought, “this smells like man.” This surprised me as the name and label photo would indicate that it is fresh and a little woodsy with a bit of dew thrown in for good measure. It does burn VERY very heavy! This is not a candle for the faint of heart or for those who tend to have allergic reactions to a candle. After burning this for about an hour I start to get a headache. If you purchase this in the wrapped votive version, you need to keep it wrapped in a separate plastic bag away from your other votives as it is so strong it will spread its scent to other votives. That being said, it took years for my votive of this to lose its scent. This is my favorite scent from Yankee. The fragrance of Midsummer's Night reminds me of a strong, deliciously scented man. It is kind of musky, but not in a heavy or cloying way. Yankee describes it as a blend of musk, patchouli, sage and mahogany cologne. I love the high quality glass jars because they are air tight and seal the scent in so it always smells fresh every time you open and relight it. The candle has lots of wax so it burns for a very long time.
