Editor Review

Rated a 7.5

It may not seem like a beauty necessity, but you'll likely be hooked after one use of the Neutrogena Wave. The vibrating head and attached cleansing pad gently exfoliate to leave normal skin types feeling clean but not too dry. (Note: The pads do contain SLS and fragrance so sensitive skin may rebel.) Skin feels softer and smoother after one use, and looks better several days later. Plus the device can even be used in the shower. The only major downside (besides occasionally reported defects) is that the disposable pads need to be refilled -- not exactly earth- or budget-friendly.

    Not so great

    by huntleca (5 reviews)
When I first bought this product, I was very excited about the concept, but it fell flat on all expectations. The cleansing pads don't actually remove makeup and dirt that well. The worst part is after only a few uses, water got into the battery compartment and the wave would turn on by itself. If I want to use it now, I ha...ve to put the battery in and remove it when I am done. June 11, 2008, 9:17 am

    Not for me

This intrigued me because of the commercials. I bought it and was very dissapointed. This left my skin squeaky clean, yes... but so clean it hurt! I have already very dry skin, and this just made my skin so much more dry. It did not help with my breakouts, rather I think it made them worse. Try this if you have oily skin, s...tay away if you don't. April 26, 2009, 6:01 am

I don't think The Neutrogena Wave is as good as they say it is. I found it hard to cleanse the hard to reach areas of the face. I was very dissapotined June 25, 2009, 9:45 am

    Useless

I tried this out for the first time and found it did not lather or even have enough product on it to clean my whole face, it basically was a total waste of money, and it left my skin dry and rough. July 21, 2008, 6:16 pm

    its OK

    by semjuan (3 reviews)
Yes, it does it's job, and cleans the dirt off my face, but as others have mentioned I must have gotten water in the battery compartment and now it's touchy when I'm using it. It works, but nothing special. July 12, 2008, 7:37 pm

    Loving it

    by bigKCfan (19 reviews)
I actually bought this to try myself before I bought one for my daughter as a stocking stuffer. I love the way it cleanses. I have had no problems with it removing makeup. After a day at the lake with sand blowing around like crazy it was very efficent in removing the dirt from my face. My face always feels extremely cl...ean after using and my night creams go on so much smoother. I was sad to hear about water getting into the battery department, so far I haven't had a problem with this and I have used it both in the shower and bath. I take a lot of care to not get the whole thing wet though, just the pad by running it sideways through the water to activate the pad. I think most of us expect a lot of sudsing when we wash our faces and this does not do that and you just have to get use to that, it is still cleaning your face. Since I use this after my nightly 5 mile walk I also find it to be very relaxing. July 10, 2008, 9:39 am

    ehh

I was in love with the Neutrogena illuminating microderm cleansing pads that were discontinued at the same time the Wave was released, so I'd hoped that the Wave would be an improvement on these. Boy was I wrong, and disappointed. I haven't had mine long, so I haven't had the problem with water in the battery compartment ...yet, but I can see how it would easily happen. Cleans OK, once makeup has already been removed. Not very exfoliating. July 9, 2008, 5:56 pm

    Love it!

    by liddledoll (3 reviews)
I'm absolutely in love with this cleanser! I have dry skin and the first time I used it I already saw a difference. The breakouts I had cleared up and my skin was left fresh and clean unlike other products I've used that left it really tight and uncomfortable. It's easy to use and the vibrations kinda perk you up in the mor...ning. November 11, 2009, 2:16 am

    weird

    by Kate8817 (5 reviews)
This product didn't do too much for me. While my skin was a little smoother, it didn't seem to clear my skin very well. The Wave vibrates which is strange to use, not to mention you may get awkward comments from any guests. Eventually my battery stopped working and the Wave would turn on by itself.
