    Wow!

    by hrhclaire (30 reviews)
This is the best product I have ever used! I have tried many, many products to stop me from being so shiny, and this is the only one that has made a difference. I put it on every morning and I am still shine-free by the end of the day. Whenever I look in the mirror and notice that I am shiny, it is because I have forgott...en to put it on that day. Every shiny girl needs this! April 22, 2008, 11:47 am

    not that awesome

    by ohlala (5 reviews)
I went to Sephora and this product was recommended to me. The price sucks. $42. I will say this- you don't have to use a lot, so it seems to last a good while. But, no this product does not soak up oil. When I first used the product it seemed to work well. But after a while, it's like my skin was getting immune to it.... I have oily skin and have yet to find a product that is helpful in controlling the oil. I know that a product isn't going to make my skin 100% oil free. But I have seen better reviews for other products that cost half the price of this one. 5 stars for price and for not being a great as I was told it was. April 21, 2008, 10:32 am

Not at all what was promised!

I bought this product with high hopes. I have extremely oily skin and oil blotting sheets are my best friend! I have tried other mattifyers in the past without success. This product got such rave reviews I just had to try it even though it has a steep price tag ($42) I thought a little would go a long way. Sadly, I am j...ust as disappointed with this product as the others. I gave it a full two week test and it totally failed. I still had to use the blotting sheets twice a day and it didn't make my skin look or feel any less oily. I will be getting a refund. June 18, 2008, 6:55 am

    Does the Job

    by beachcookie2323 (2 reviews)
This Lotion is sticky and does feel like glue. Using powder over this formula is a nightmare. However, it does control the shine on my skin and it lasts through the work day. I just tried it with an Illuminating tinted moisturizer and loved the results. What I love is that it does control the shine and it lasts. What I do... not like is the way it feels when putting it on my face. I also think that it is a little bit pricey. May 21, 2008, 4:33 pm

    Really thick consistancy

    by jsrohmstone (26 reviews)
DOes anyone else feel like they are putting glue on their face with this stuff? It actually makes my skin immediately matte- and lasted all day- but it is so so thick and sticky it seriously feels like you are putting glue paste on your face. I got a sample size in Sephoras summer sunscreen special- maybe it is old or som...ething- but even if it works- it just doesnt seem right to put something that thick on my skin! I will not be buying the full size... May 14, 2008, 1:01 pm

Love it - you just need to use it correctly!

    by Annie_B (2 reviews)
I also think this product amazing - it really keeps me matte all day and I have super oily skin. If it feels sticky on your face, my guess is you're using too much. You only need a pea size amount to cover your entire face. I like to dab mini-dots around my T-zone etc and then blend - it works brilliantly. But if you use to...o much, it feels tacky. Remember, it's for oily skin - so if you have normal skin it won't feel right to you. I've been a fan for two years - it's the best I've ever tried!! January 14, 2009, 12:21 pm

    pretty good

    by new2review (5 reviews)
Unlike most of the reviewers of this product, I found it worked well. True it doesn't feel like a typical moisturizer - its really a mattifying cream. I used the tinted formula and could use this w/o foundation or with - it helps keep my skin from becoming oily during the day and gives a nice matte appearance. It can bec...ome a bit cakey if used under a heavy foundation, and you need to use a lighter foundation if using the tinted formula, but overall I really like this product - does what it claims! I've moved on.

When this first arrived on the skincare scene a few years ago, I was all for it. Anything that can help balance out my oil in my t-zone is a welcome addition to my routine. But honestly-- this stuff reminds me of Elmer's Glue when it comes out of the tube and I had flashbacks of elementary school and of cutting hearts out... of construction paper to make a boy I liked a collage. *laughs* It's effective for a short while, but the sebum starts up again within an hour or 2 for me and it's pointless. It can be difficult to wear foundation over this if you don't let it dry for several minutes beforehand is what I've found. When I wore liquid foundation with it-- it made a weird texture on my face so I stuck with wearing minerals when I wore this. It does get points for having an SPF 20 versus most products which are 15. But I've moved on the other things. This isn't the answer for me personally. November 25, 2008, 8:59 am

I wanted to fall in love with it. Anything that helps my skin look matte, I want to use every day, all the time. But I honestly cannot think of one reason why anyone should buy this product. Not a single one. First of all, the price is absolutely outrageous. Outrageous as in $42 for a little over 1 oz. This is not a moistu...rizer. This is not any sort of treatment for any other skin problem except oil control. This means that you are applying this over your La Mer, or whatever moisturizer you're using (which in my case is currently Bliss Steep Clean Moisture Lotion, but whatever). Secondly, it doesn't really do what it claims to. Here are the claims from Sephora's website: Clinical trials using state-of-the-art high resolution tools measured: -44% reduction in sebum levels -39% increase in mattification -37% reduction in pore size -35% reduction in visible shine -19% increase in hydration Now, let me throw a disclaimer out there: I am only one person with my own experience. You may find this product works really well for you. My skin is very oily with large pores and without any treatment at all, I can blot off a great deal of oil two hours after cleaning my face. You may not have such an extreme case, and this may do exactly as it is supposed to for you. I can really put these products to the test, however, and I did notice a bit of mattification, perhaps four hours worth. A slight reduction in sebum levels and visible shine. I don't need the hydration, so that was irrelevant. I saw no change in pore size. I personally wouldn't recommend this for anyone. I'd recommend someone use a good moisturizer with oil control and mattifying properties already in it, and a very good primer. Those two things, plus an occasional blotting paper is all you need. If you have oily skin

    by sunny4u311971 (2 reviews)
If you have oily skin I highly recommend this product. It is almost like it soaks the oil off of your skin and helps your makeup from looking like an oil slick. April 16, 2008, 6:39 am

  • To mattify. Or moisturize. Or to protect. Traditionally oily complexions have had to choose one course of action. The synergy of these benefits is what makes Medi-Matte™ Oil Control Lotion a breakthrough. In clinical studies there was no major shine or oily breakthrough for up to 8 hours. In fact, visible shine was decreased by a significant 35%; sebum levels were reduced by 44% and mattification increased by 39%. Also worth mentioning: an immediate increase in hydration and a 37% reduction in pore size after 8 weeks. And the broad spectrum UV sunscreens and antioxidants in this lightweight lotion help keep young skin younger-looking longer. Skin appears even, smooth and flawless. At the end of the day, isn't that what you'd hope to see.
