If you are looking to just enhance your natural color or go a bit darker, this is a GREAT choice! It is very gentle and from my experience gives great results. It's easy, quick, and probably about the best thing i've tried that doesn't ravage my hair. In fact, my hair always comes out in better condition than when I started. My favorite color is Cinnaberry. A GORGEOUS deep auburn shade. One word of advice, these colors do tend to pull a bit darker than the box, so you may want to use a shade lighter than what you are trying to achieve! I am 26 and I have been coloring my hair since I was 19. My natural color is too mousey. After hearing all the great reviews this hair color got I decided to try it. To my dismay it was nothing like the color on the box, I would actually say the color didn't take. The instructions say to leave it on for only 10 minutes (sounds great), so I left it on for 15 minutes (20 minutes max for grey hair). But I can still see my roots. It isn't a permanent coloring system, but still I expected more. I used the Light Auburn color and it turned my hair a medium brown with a touch of red. I would not recommend this product. I have used Clairol products in the past with most applications being close to what I expected.
I thought I would try natuarl instincts this time (I had a coupon)
This will require a visit to my colorist to get my hair back to a color that I can tolerate.
I followed the box's indications for what to expect for color- i believed the box promise of grey coverage.
I have , after 2 shampoos, complete grey on the sides of my face and the strawberry blond reminds me of the henna haired ladies that get off our senior citizens bus in front of the local shopping centers.

This is a great semi-permanent hair color. Super easy to use even for first-time home colorers. This hair color is rich and shiny and gradually fades - so no roots! This product is great for those: new to home hair color; someone wanting low commitment to a color; someone wanting to go darker; someone wanting to freshen up their current color. This isn't going to work for someone wanting to go a couple of shades lighter, though. Each box has a nice color chart on the side, showing the type of color to expect based on your starting hair color. Anything in the "Warm" line will definitely bring out some red, so be aware of that.
The first time I used it the color washed out in a couple weeks, but the next month it lasted much longer. I like this because I can change colors each month and as it washes out. If you really don't like the shade you picked, used a clarifying shampoo and it will fade faster. This hair color is just the BEST. May 13, 2008, 7:39 am

Okay, my hair is very long, long as in middle of my butt long. So, with that in, mind, I am very wary of dying it because I will basically fry the ends as I try to account for the roots. So I do semi- and demi-permantant colors now, and this is by far the best of them! The color is rich but very natural because many people are unaware that I dye my hair, or have to ask if it really is my natural color because it looks so pretty. And I LOVE LOVE LOVE the deep conditioner that comes with the dye. Never does my hair feel as wonderful than when I use that conditioner. December 26, 2007, 7:23 am

After trying many, many hair coloring agents I came across this product in the 1990's in a search for a hair color that would rid myself of stubborn gray roots.
The first time I used it - and I must consider the ease of only having to mix the color with the base and shake - I was absolutely thrilled with the results I received. To make a long story short, not only did I introduce this miracle formula to friends (who by the way have gotten so selfish with it they wont's tell me when they find it on sale). My favorite color at the moment is Hot Cocoa w/Highlights.

My natural hair color is blonde, but I really love red hair. Red from a box fades really fast, so I tried this brand to keep from overdrying my hair from coloring it so much. The odor was minimal, the color was fabulous -- the first day. Every time I washed my hair after that, the shampoo suds were full of hair color. While I realize that this is a "temporary" coloring, I didn't know it would be gone in a week. Maybe it works better for other colors that don't normally fade so fast. A few years ago I was a hair dye virgin and being a naturally light brunette, I sought something a little bit darker than my shade. The results? Flaming red. My hairs natural red highlights clashed with the dye in a bad way. I wish that I had listened to my sisters who repeatedly told me that it didn't matter that it said "ash", my hair was just going to be some variation of red.
I had to throw out all of my make-up to match my hair color which, needless to say, lasted a while!
However, being bored with my look, I decided to try the dye route again only make it a semi-permanent color. I went for a medium ash brown and voila!

My medium brown hair had a brassy tone to it from old highlights that are almost grown out. I was sick of the brassiness and decided to try Natural Instincts to see if that might help and I'm SOOOOOO thrilled with the results! I chose a color very close to my own and the results were not dramatic, but I could see right away that the brassiness was gone. All that was left was normal, all over brown hair - just what I was looking for! I will definitely use this product again. June 1, 2008, 3:52 pm

I tried this thinking it would be a disaster, but actually it's the best haircolor I've ever used. It's much gentler, comes out true to its color, and the conditioner is really great. It is semi-permanent though, so you do have to dye your hair more often, but I think it's only improved the condition of my hair throughout the past 4 months I've been using it.
