OPI Natural Nail Base Coat Reviews

It is the best
No other brand comes close to this base coat. I use red polish, and it prevents staining. — 1 year, 3 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 3 of 3 people said helpful

Meh
This product protected my nails from staining, as any base coat should do. I found that it did nothing to condition my nails - actually dried them out - and made the lasting power of my nail polish decrease! I normally have great luck with OPI, but I did not like this product. — 1 year, 5 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 1 of 1 people said helpful

Review subject
To be fair, this is the only base coat I have tried. I used to just use a top coat as a base coat, only to prevent staining. This base coat drys really fast, which is awesome if you are impatient like me and just want to get to the fun part--actually using color:) It goes only smoothly without any of those annoying little bubbles. I used it for my new year's eve nails (pail pinks nails with silver glitter tips) and my manicure looked good for about a week. The glitter started to chip a bit but that was my fault for not applying a top coat every couple of days. 10 days later, the glitter has mostly chipped off but the pale pink is still hanging on just fine. I used it as a glue for glitter on the tips of my nails and it adhered well (I followed with the OPI top coat). All in all a great product:) — 4 months, 2 weeks agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful

Good
I tried this out based on recc's for stain prevention. I've been using it on short nails with very dark and bright colors known to stain, and I have to say, I think it does a very good job of stain prevention! That's huge if you've ever stained your nails and like to go back & forth between sheers, clears, and brights. It has not accelerated any chipping for me, but I think that short length nails with little to no free edge do not have much chipping problems. I've been wearing a work polish Sunday night - Thursday night and my color stays put, especially with a mani extender clear coat half-way through the week, if I have time, which I usually don't. I am not currently trying to grow my nails out, I'm finding short much more chic and easy to care for right now. I can definitely see why nail salons use this brand of polish. It goes on smoothly, dries fast and looks great. I have nails that tend to break and tear after they get a certain length. But I've been using the "Hair, Skin and Nail" vitamin for a few solid months now, and it's made such a difference in the appearance of my nails. I've tried nail strengtheners, the Sally Hansen "Diamond Hard" polish. But it chipped, and almost made my nails so hard that they couldn't bend, they'd just break. I love using clear coats because I like the look of natural nails. This polish is always going to be in my cabinet. 4/5 just for how many times I have to apply it. As my nails grow, the polish tends to grow towards the center of my nails and chip off. I tried this out based on recc's for stain prevention. Helps my french manicure last
I used to skip the base coat and used the white and top coat, but my french manicure did not last. Now with this base coat, my manicure lasts a week. Excellent product. — 3 years, 11 months agoThis review is: Helpful | Not helpful | Inappropriate | 0 of 0 people said helpful
